Banhammer still broke?

    Hello there, today's topic is the Banhammer and the anti-cheat by Konsolas.
    So this Thread has some Topics: Banning Legit Players and Banning Hackers.

    Banning Legits:

    So at the 2019-04-07, I got autoed for Fly hacking. I was in KitPvP with a friend we were just Fist fighting. I stopped fighting back for a time because I wanted to do something, my friend kept hitting me and that's okay, but then I got banned for fly hacking (https://www.brawl.com/history/player/CrazySchnetzler1 as you can see here) but I couldn't be that much above the ground. So I appealed and got unbanned very fast (Thank you @xxMineSheepxx ). So please remember the fact, that I wasn't / couldn't be that much above the ground, I'm gonna get into the point later on.

    Banning Hackers:

    So first up most of the time the Banhammer is working fine, but it is pretty weird that Hackers flying with more then 10blocks above the ground are not getting banned so fast then I got banned.

    First of some Pictures out of a hack client (in a video).



    As you can see in the Video, most of the hacks are having the function to set it to AAC-Mode, that means, that the Anticheat cant detect it that easy, but you can edit the config file (config.yml), and I don't think that's very hard, okay I don't use AAC by Konsolas on a server I'm dev on, but ist a pretty similar plugin.

    Just to show you, today (2019-04-09) I recored 2 fly hackers, flying around and „waiting“ for the banhammer to show up. (Yes the videos are cutted).

    There's definitely something wrong with the fly detection on CTF, I noticed that yesterday too. Will look into soon.

    Also you just exposed yourself using illegal modifications (Health bars), wp.

    Ye, after reinstalling labymod I forgot to copy my old Server profiles that disable Damage indicator for brawl and other servers

    Yesterday? Since last week I noticed that there are a lot of them. And btw remove "/aac" as you can see there are many hacks with the config aac so many hackers just join and do "/aac" "/bac" "/spartan" etc.

    Much better written than my thread, mostly because i am lazy and i don't put effort.

    About the issue which CrazySchnetzler1 brang up, there have been a lot of hackers lately, probably due to the flaws in the anticheat and the fact that the hackers might share with other hackers a server (brawl ctf) which they can abuse their hacks on.
    Most of the hackers also have multiple alts so they can continually hack without getting banned for a long time. I see hackers nearly every day, none of them are especially good at disguising their hacks so it should be relatively easy to identify these cheaters.
    Improving the anticheat would probably lessen the damage and the hate which they inflict on the normal ctf'ers but then i can't target them so rip.

    It would be smart to remove those modifications, despite the fact that they cannot do much because you can already identify their lag through the player count by pressing tab. Other than that, i commend you for your efforts in identifying the problems in the anticheat, however i do warn you that it might not get improved because noone actually cares about the hackers.

    After I saw that I forgot to paste my server profiles in Labymod I did it, so damage indicator is disabled for brawl and every other server where rules are not allowing it.

    yes I know...

    What about the ping count of a player above their head? If its allowed then i will probably use the same mechanism, if its not cheating.

    I wish the mods like minesheep or moistmayonnaise would update the anticheat though. Seems worse than high pickel's quote (sorry if i'm advertising)- 'I would rather let 10 hackers escape unbanned than ban 1 innocent person' or something like that. My point in simple sentences is that brawl anticheat is not the best and it can be improved tremendously.

    A german server is using aac too and there is a youtuber who is hacking on that server, he tried to tell Konsolas and the Dev of the server how to fix the aac but they are not listening... I also send a video of the hacker to redslime, not sure what hes doing with it...

    Pretty sure there are hacks which can alter the bar reading on tab. (I saw a hacker with full perfect internet and the tab reading said 1 bar).

    Pardon me, but isn't the developer of brawl the person who implemented the aac anticheat into brawl and is supposed to resolve the issues around it?

    It's really useful for pvp so you can judge if you need to go tryhard on them and it will help you know if they hack or are just really skilled.

    well some hackers have low ping so...

    The anticheat is coded by Konsolas (do /aac in game to see), but there is a config file and you can edit the config a bit as u wish (also fly detection...)

    Low ping doesn’t determine if they’re hacking or not. Typically, ping doesn’t determine if they’re hacking or not at all. There is no real identification if they’re hacking unless you have substantial evidence. Ping doesn’t determine that, however ping does increase the smoothness if their hits/knock back advantages and some other stuff, making it LOOK like they’re hacking sometimes

    Yes, but I dont know how it is, but are the mods telling the dev(s) what the aac is not detecting fast? If not, please start doing it, I think it would be the way for a better aac that bans more hackers then Legits

    I definitely think the anticheat could do with some improvement, but it's hard to update the anticheat. We used to use a private one which worked very well back when it was first released, but we no longer have the resources to maintain it (as hacks get more sophisticated at bypassing anticheats, we need to update it to combat the bypasses), so we're stuck with public anticheats. This means we can't modify them as well as we'd like. We also need to identify exactly how people are bypassing the anticheat.

    It's not "we don't care about our anticheat", it's just that improving the anticheat is a lot of work, especially since we only have 1 dev at the moment.
