    CTF was originally based on TF2 and, with that in mind, it doesn't really make sense to have classes like Necro and Dwarf. Neither fit the TF2 theme and, especially with Necro, are extremely problematic just based on what the class does (making it hard to rework). You could say the same for Mage and Elf but neither of them have Necro's problems (dependent on mobs, mob AI, and campiness).

    The suggestion here is to remove Necro entirely and replace it with Demoman.

    Since the Engineer rework gives it TNT instead of a turret some changes would be necessary to avoid making it redundant.

    Explosives expert. Does damage almost exclusively through bombs and blowing sh*t up. Defense focused with some recovery potential. More vulnerable at close range.

    most of the stuff with this is stolen from TF2 so deal with it

    Items:

    Wooden Sword
    2 Steak
    Iron Shovel (Grenade Launcher, Knockback I)
    4 TNT (Standard explosive, not shown)
    3 Fireballs (Firebomb)
    5 Slimeballs (Sticky Bomb)
    3 Eggs (Demolition Grenade)
    2 Snowballs (Illumination Grenade)

    Also not shown: Wooden, Stone, Gold, and Diamond shovels

    Armor:

    No Helmet
    Dyed black Leather Chestplate (Fire Protection 3)
    Iron Leggings (Blast Protection 4)
    Dyed red Leather Boots (Fire Protection 3)

    4.5/10 Armor Points

    Demoman's enchanted armor means he takes 32% reduced damage from any explosions he or another Demoman causes and 45% reduced burn time from fire (i.e. Pyro, Mage, other Demoman).

    Grenade Launcher: The Demoman uses his grenade launcher for the firing of all his grenades and bombs (grenade launchers launch grenades. incredible).

    Right clicking the Grenade Launcher will shoot a slow moving TNT in the indicated direction. It will explode after 1 second dealing 5 full hearts damage in TNT's standard radius. Demoman will recharge TNT at approximately the same rate as Assassin redstone.

    Explosives other than TNT will not passively regenerate

    RANGE: 10 Blocks
    COOLDOWN: 2 seconds

    Demoman has 5 Grenade Launchers, each uniquely equipped for their respective explosives. Hovering over each explosive will produce their respective launcher, in a similar manner to Elf's elements. Right clicking any Grenade Launcher will shoot their respective projectile.

    Grenade Launchers and their Explosives:
    • Iron Shovel: Standard Explosives (TNT)
    • Wooden Shovel: Firebomb (Fire Charge)
    • Stone Shovel: Sticky Bomb (Slimeball)
    • Gold Shovel: Demolition Grenade (Egg)
    • Diamond Shovel: Illumination Grenade (Snowball)
    Firebomb: Demoman rightclicks his Wooden Shovel to launch a fast moving fire charge which will explode in a 3x3 circular radius on contact with a player or terrain, setting the area on fire for 2 seconds and dealing 4 full hearts of damage.

    Firebombs do not explode within 15 blocks of the flag.

    Enemies who are already aflame take 4 full hearts true damage instead.

    RANGE: 15 blocks
    COOLDOWN: 10 seconds

    Sticky Bomb: Demoman rightclicks his Stone Shovel to launch a slimeball which will turn whatever block it collides with into green wool for 30 seconds. They can also be attached to players for 10 seconds. Demoman can have up to 2 sticky bombs active at once.

    Sticky bombs are immobile but extremely volatile. They can be detonated by either: left clicking the Stone Shovel or by enemies walking/jumping on the block affected by the bomb, detonating it instantly.

    If placed on terrain/structures Sticky bombs deal 9 full hearts of damage in a 2x2 square radius. If placed on an enemy or allied player they deal 5 full hearts of damage in the same radius. They cannot be placed within 15 blocks of the flag.

    If sticky bombs despawn after 30 seconds without detonation they are refunded to the Demoman.

    RANGE: 5 blocks
    COOLDOWN: 1 second

    Demolition Grenade: Demoman rightclicks his Gold Shovel to launch a fast moving egg which will create a large explosion on contact with terrain or structures, causing 3 waves of falling sand (in a 3x3 square radius) dealing 2 full hearts of damage per wave (6 total) and giving affected enemies a concussion (Slowness 1) for 2 seconds.

    Demolition Grenades have no effect on contact with players.

    RANGE: 20 blocks
    COOLDOWN: 10 seconds

    Illumination Grenade: Demoman rightclicks his Diamond Shovel to launch a snowball which will create an explosion in a 2x2 circular radius, dealing no damage and revealing any invisible targets in the area. Affected targets, unable to handle the extreme brightness generated by the grenade, will be blinded for 1 second (this applies to all enemies not just invisible ones).

    RANGE: 15 blocks
    COOLDOWN: 5 seconds

    Will the revealed targets just be visible in the 2x2 explosion for like 1-3 seconds (also allowing them to take damage),
    or will it permanently unveil the targets until they reapply their invisibility?
    I think either can work, but I'm curious to what you think/intended

    Similar to mage / elf in a sense, but it offers a very unique flavor ... perhaps something else can be tweaked/added to make it even more unique and perhaps carry any more desirable similarity to the current demoman, i mean engineer

    All in all, i like it and it's a solid foundation tbh


    EDIT: naaa im not bout to give up like that with necro hehe (u have gone too far too long for that, as u sent me... https://www.brawl.com/threads/44295/ #2k15–n/a lolol), but this could replace the current engineer, and bring back old engie in some way imo,tbh,ngl

    I think this would be to op and piss other people off. People still get mad over the archer sniping mechanic. I think people would get pissed at this to.

    I think what I agree with most is that Necro and Dwarf don't belong in the game. Dwarf could easily become one of the best classes in the game with a proper rework of it's whole mechanics, but how it stands right now, it sucks. Current Necro is also meaningless. You cannot do anything with the class.

    this is my only problem with your rework. Making a class demoman when demoman already exists means one or the other should be changed

    Dwarf's design sucks but it's actually one of the most broken classes in the game (the mindless snowballing + oneshot potential on anyone who isn't Heavy). Like it takes zero skill to play that class lol

    Reworking Dwarf into something less stupid could also make Assassin no longer necessary. Assassin is Dwarf's only real counter in the flagroom because it's an extremely dumb class that counters another extremely dumb class. This is in part because it's oneshots are 100% ping based and has little to do with the skill of the player.

    Like Necro, there's been a bunch of great Dwarf reworks. @obikenobi21's like, three Dwarf reworks, come to mind in that regard

    It's been like that for seven years. The mob AI completely breaking is just the most recent example of how bad the 2012 Necro rework (WiKi_KiKi's rework if you remember) was.

    inb4 "maybe you should've said all this 4-5 years ago" I've been making these points about Necro for at least 5 years. We have managed to add 3 new classes, do a wholesale rework for Engineer, a mini rework for Chemist, add dozens of quickcommands, cosmetics, etc. What did we get for Necro? Some bugfixes and a mob beacon

    Permanently until they reapply their invisibility. I don't want to add too many durations as that can be confusing + the latter is more intuitive in general

    Yeah they're a little too OP. Nerfed them a bit (see red text)

    Reduced damage from on-player explosions, number of sticky bombs that can be active at once, and the time active on players. If you can't find it ^
