Idea Custom Maps Booster

    There are 2 boosters for ctf (if I'm remembering correctly), that being Old Maps Booster and Credit Booster. The reason why I have never purchased either item is because of several reasons:
    1. I don't know which maps I'm paying for.
    2. I don't like most of the old maps.
    3. I don't need more credits.
    So, here is my proposal for a new booster:
    1. The booster will be called The Custom Maps Booster.
    2. The booster will cost $1.00 USD.
    3. The booster will last for 30 minutes.
    4. The booster will allow the customer to choose three maps, and variations of those maps will be placed in rotation for all three capture the flag servers.
    Here are some pros I've thought up while conceptualizing this booster:
    1. The lower cost of the booster will be more appealing to consumers.
    2. The increased customization of this booster will increase the number of those who purchase boosters.
    3. The shorter duration of the booster increases the chances that people will repurchase the booster.
    However, there are cons to this idea, as with any idea:
    1. This is a risk, just like any business decision. There's always the chance that time and effort goes into producing this product and no one buys it.

    Considering the amount of people who purchase the other boosters, I don't think lack of buyers is going to be a huge issue. Considering the amount of time the booster lasts I don't think the price is bad either. Let's say someone chooses Blackout: will they be able to choose which variations are put in the rotation, or is it just random?

    Great question! Ideally for the booster to be truly custom you would get to choose which variations of each map go into rotation. You would choose three maps and their custom maps that go with that broader selection, for example:
    1. Blackout (choose custom variations)
    2. Skyworlds (choose custom variations)
    3. Opposites Collide (choose custom variations)
    From there the variations would appear randomly across the server, but only those types of maps and the selected variations would appear in rotation. Hope that helped!

    Castle wars, Waterfall II, and Boatout
    Either that or nano blackout, Bazaar, and Kill Creek

    the nightmare combo would be Giant Chests, Aquarium, and Waterfall I

    Hey Spades_ :slight_smile:

    I'm glad the interest in having specific maps available for "donation rewards / purchases" hasn't died out in potential ways to help generate some revenue for Brawl. I reviewed the old post to see if you had commented at all before, but perhaps you missed it back when I posted my thoughts on possibly introducing a "Map Selector" for those who would offer donations and want it. It's a different take on a similar goal, but I'd appreciate feedback if you or anyone else wish to review and share thoughts:

    I'd still like to see this in game regardless of what form it takes -- even if someone who loves a map I despise keeps squeezing it into the ... umm ... into the order of map play that is nice to think of as a "rotation" (since it's technically not the same map twice in a row if a whole new match is starting after all, right? He he he he). :laughing:

    I also posted a similar idea too a while back, not as detailed though. the idea being a few themed boosters instead of a single big one. Its a really good idea to be able to buy specific map boosters, i would probably get a booster like that once in a while. The old map booster is not that attractive at the moment and it could really use a rework like this one

    Would be a good idea but needs to be approved by admin on the maps that can be played if their setup correctly.

    Very interesting idea, best one i have seen in a while. The custom map idea is good for players new to CTF and only have a few maps they like. They may buy a old map booster and, as you said, they don't know what they are paying for. I am a fan of some of the major landscape focus maps such as Dragon Valley, Sky-worlds and Opposites Collide so being able to only play those is awesome :grinning:
