CTF CMS Feature Suggestion.

    Hi. So I made a suggestion on the CTF discord but I felt I should bring it to the forums as well. I went as far as even making an example.

    If you want the TL;DR just watch the video.
    (Watch at 1.5 speed, I type slow af when recording.)

    I haven’t been really on the team scene until yesterday. (Played Anni VS Citrix. **** AF btw.) I was re-watching the CMS and I noticed some potential fixes for the streamer that we may run by CTF devs. For instance, having to use /tp every time we want to go to a specific player is pretty annoying. I also noticed that autocomplete for player names is broken, meaning the CMS live streamer is forced to type in the full name, otherwise the teleport won’t complete. There were a couple of engagements that were missed because of this. My proposal is the following:

    Make a /cms mode for staff members.

    Once executed, this will place the player in spectator mode as normal. Once in this mode, certain staff notifications can be configured to be enabled or disabled, for instance the join/leave of players on the specific server or global ban/support notifications if desired. All of these settings could be stored for specific players, or just reset at the end of the match. Up to the dev. The following functions that could be performed are:
    • Click on flag chat messages to teleport to whoever stole the flag.
    • Use a very simple command that teleports the player to the specified flagpost.
    I coded a very simple example of how the workflow might look like and feel. In principle, these modifications should be applicable to CTF on brawl.



    I feel like this would make the overall streaming process much easier for the moderator and less cluttered for everyone. Thoughts, questions, and improvements are welcome.

    I'd also like to see build's function for flight speed aka the command /flyspeed # in spectator mode

    Honestly, this is a great idea! I would like for it to be even more streamlined if it could be like right-clicking the different coloured banners in your inventory to teleport to people who have the flags respectively. However, might be a tiny issue but most streamers are not staff members, so they would not have access to this CMS mode. However, this could be easily fixed if the staff member could authorise the people beforehand to access the CMS mode much like how /spec works. It could go something like /cms auromelt for example. But yea a great idea!! It is really annoying when people have to type to tp to others REE this could also further enable those that are not staff members to stream and have ease of access while streaming.

    I like most of the idea. I still think the ability to be able to spec and unspec players should be staff only. Other than that I love the idea of adding a tp function to the flag carrier so streamers can catch more of the action. It can be a bit frustrating to watch the stream back and see that the stream missed a play that you made, so hopefully this will fix that issue. Although even if this is added, streamers will still most likely miss some events as catching everything can be a bit difficult.

    Yeah, I didn't show it in the video, but Shared did not have the same rank as me and was unable to change his mode into CMS. I added the optional argument for a username similar to /spectator <player>

    I agree. For this demo I actually increased the fly speed to 0.5. Which is much faster than default spectator mode. Just while making the video, I felt the speed was more than adequate and super helpful.
