Intro Hey all!

What's up?

My name's Tyler, I'm 18 years old and I'm new to the server. I came across the server on a server list, joined on a whim, and have been very impressed so far. The environment here seems great - oriented towards professionalism as well as having fun!

My goal in joining is to first become a part of the community and then apply for staff. I am currently a student at the US Air Force Academy, where the curriculum is so vigorous that finding time to play may be hard at times. That being said, I hope to be online as often as possible. I'm in the process of learning Java, and hope to be proficient in it in the next couple of months. I took a bit of a break from Minecraft due to how busy I was senior year, but my skills still include building, being social and outgoing, and creativity. I hope that beginning to play again will do several things: 1) Give me a way to relax a bit in my downtime. 2) Give me a chance to use my skills with general server management as well as my new skills in java to better the server 3) Let me meet new people in a community that seems, from a newcomers perspective, as extremely welcoming, professional, and fun.

As I said I do hope to apply for staff at some point. This is not meant to be any sort of application, just some things about me that I think help to explain the "why" behind my desire to be a staff member. So first of I'll start by saying the positions I would like to apply for in the future would be a Developer or a Builder. I think Developer would be my top choice, as I love coding, critical thinking, and problem-solving, especially when they have such tangible results that are able to be seen immediately implemented in-game. I also think that the role of a developer on many servers is sort of in the background... I would like to change that in the near future. I think it's important for all staff members to be active not only in doing their jobs, but also in the community. It helps when the community is familiar with the people who are working hard to make their experience more enjoyable.

Anyway, before this gets misconstrued as a pre-application for a staff position, I'll talk a bit more about some of my other hobbies. I hope to be a pilot after I graduate; I love the idea of soaring through the air at high speeds, especially when it's for the country that I love most. Besides Computer Science, other things I enjoy are writing and mechanical physics. In terms of hobbies, I like gaming, hanging out with friends, hiking, and taking the time to get to know those around me.

Well, I definitely think this intro has already gone on for long enough so that anyone who makes it this far should be commended. I'll sign off for now, but I look forward to getting to know you all!
