So I play archer pretty often and I really want to improve on archer duels. I've been switching on and off between using hitboxes to see the arrows coming at me better, and just not using the hitboxes at all. I'm more comfortable using no hitboxes for the normal gameplay, but I feel that using hitboxes is definitely easier for the duel aspect of archer. I just wanted to ask all the archer players if they use hitboxes or not, and if they find it easier to use them.

All archers use hit boxes I’m pretty sure, also some use this thing called podcrash which can show the arrow trail.

It’s gotten to the point where almost all of the good archers use hit boxes. For dueling purposes it’s just so much easier to dodge incoming arrows.

Yeah I agree it’s definitely easier especially with the not fully charged arrows. Thanks for replying

I've personally always just used vanilla Minecraft on Brawl. I had always hoped that multiplayer servers would get better and better at detecting when players are using mods (apart from things like vanity-only texture packs of course) to do away with helpful or even unbalancing things like zooming, macros, ghost hacks, etc. but (unfortunately in my personal unpopular opinion) Brawl seems to allow a number of "light aid tools" even though the balance-breaking aid tools are obviously cause for discipline.

I'm nowhere near impressive enough to require videos to be recorded during my gameplay to prove that I only play with vanilla version 1.8.9, but every so often I do have some fairly impressive moments. Not seeing arrows that SMACK in with a surprise snipe kill are pretty annoying, but I have adopted a play style that always at least half-expects a Ninja to pop out of nowhere and half-expects Archers to be exploiting open areas or long range bottleneck areas. I have some more learning to do as far as preparing for Assassins when I'm not running a flag, lol, but as far as Archer duels go, often enough the timing between hearing arrows hit nearby with stereo is what clues me in to where an Archer might be shooting from. Fast reflexes and high mouse sensitivity are pretty much a must for it to do any good though.

That said, I've never turned on hit boxes or tinkered much with them at all (even if they're included in vanilla Minecraft). The cross hairs are already kinda "cheaty" enough as far as pinpointing where an attack will be on target...not to mention the ability to see a slight bit behind oneself when playing in 3rd-person. :stuck_out_tongue:

My personal preference is having less things clutter the screen though, so in case my input matters at all I choose to not show any hit boxes.

First off, I appreciate you replying it does matter to me :grinning:. And yeah I agree with you about playing in the vanilla version. I recently started playing again after a couple years when quarantine started, and for some reason I picked up archer. I got a lot of my kills without using hitboxes, but when I started to run into the really good archers, they were destroying me in duels. Turning on hitboxes does get a bit of getting used to, but its super beneficial in the long run.

I dont use anything at all, I have tried it with hitboxes (for like 2 minutes until I figured out it only works against me).
I have played for so long without it that it only distracts me at this point. I usually avoid duels since it takes too much time, too many arrows and it's boring imo, I'd rather spend that time on killing half of their offense/defense

For some reason, hitting shots without hitboxes feel more satisfying. Probably because the amount of time played without, its just a weird transition.

I periodically use hitboxes or Podcrash, using both together gives you a significant advantage over the other archer in my opinion. You can see both the hitbox along with the arrow trail. Personally, it makes the gameplay a lot more satisfying.

Ok cool thanks. I’m definitely gonna look up some videos on Podcrash.
