Idea [Rework] Pyro

    Pyro to me in ctf is not at all as much fun as the other classes. Just the thought of "fire, insta-kill, fire, insta-kill, fire, insta-kill, fire, insta-kill, fire, insta-kill, fire.... and so on" borreesssss me to death and no one enjoys being insta-killed anyway.

    Here is my suggestion to revive / rework pyro

    First I would suggest a name change (Pyro is fine thou) to something like "Imp" (its a fire demon :confused:)

    Armor:
    Red leather (stays same)

    Inventory:
    Combustion axe (This will be the pyros main weapon and when you right click a whirlwind of smoke (maybe flame as-well) will spiral out of the axe and knock-back players (knock-back 1) and blind for 2 seconds and ignites (8 second cool-down)

    Blaze powder (renamed "heatwave", Sends forth a wave of flames that ignites and pushes back players (10 block range) (16 second cool-down)

    Pyro / Imp bow (shoots a flaming arrow towards the enemy (flame trail maybe?) if you shift and fire the bow it will behave as a "triple shot" but will cost 3 arrows (isn't necessary but would be epic)

    4 steak

    30 arrows

    When the imp / pyro hits a player on fire with their axe the player hit will receive slowness 1 and take a half heart extra damage. (No insta-kills >:O )

    (to top it all off I think permanent jump-boost 1 and speed 1 would be a nice add on)

    I don't see the need of having a Pyro rework. Pyro almost has a ton of counters - they just need to nerf Pyro so its easier for people to pull these counters off.

    I can't judge since I don't know exactly what the other classes have, but it looks fun to use, and a pyro change is going to be needed in the future; instakills are the exact reason why I never bother to be an active McPvP player.

    What you are saying makes the class seem like a serious offensive op class. ( you can blind people and have speed, jump boost, 30 arrows, and you can set a large amount of people on fire with the bow charge.......)
    This is just my personal opinion but I think that pyro shouldn't be changed. Also you would be able to take out almost any defense with the knock back and the world wind effect.....(again personal opinion.)

    Pyro is already a serious offensive op class.... This just makes it more fun and no instakills

    Actually, from my experience, pyro is hard to use when its outside he flag room. Even as heavy, which pyro is supposed to counter, outside the flag room I have no troubles taking them down.

    Not really because ninjas could slaughter pyros, assassins, dwarves, and medics would crush pyro on offense. With these changes it would create the class to be more op on offense because it would be able to escape the dwarf, medic, and the ninja by a out running them and b blinding. (Only assassin would be able to kill it.)

    Out running them? Speed 1 may be faster but its really not that much faster then normal sprinting. Blinding for a-couple seconds is more of an aesthetic ability then an offensive ability to me. Keep in mind that these changes may offer more protection against other classes like ninja and medic but it also gives less protection against classes like Heavy and Chemist.

    Yet the knock back and the ability to slow other players down creates the class to be a sort of a tank, and heavy sand chemists would not be able to easily kill if because it would give them blindness and knock back then all they have to do is run and then there home free.

    This is a step in the right direction, but it completely changes pyro's role from a high damage-armor-ignoring class, to a class that just deals a crap ton of knockback. Also, 16 seconds is way too much for a cooldown in a fast paced game like CTF. Even assassins redstone isn't that long (I think). The bow seems kind of useless, and the particles just there for effect. And jump boost 1 is really annoying, I don't think any class needs that, and speed I is pretty much useless.

    Most of its counters are premium and new players don't like feeling forced to switch classes because of a Pyro. Just because us vets can deal with Pyro after years of experience doesn't mean it's balanced. Look how much it centralizes team matches. Better defenses turned into a matter of if they can protect the Pyro than anything else.

    The counter I had in mind when I said what I said was running away from the pyro and avoiding getting 1 shot by it. This can be done by any class, and best done by chemist and soldier.

    Chemist is good at it because it can out-pace the pyro. Unlike the other way round with other classes, even when the chemist is on fire, it can outrun it, as it does not get slowed down by the fire damage (and has speed 1). Therefore, a good nerf for pyro that would allow every class to do this would be giving every class speed 1 when its on fire, as well as making it impossible to get slowed down by the fire (but still damaged by it).

    Yes. It has:

    • Full leather armour
    • Diamond axe
    • Flint and steel
    • Bow
    • Explosive arrows - which, when the bow is pulled back fully, will cause an explosion where the arrow lands and cause everyone around it to be set on fire
    • 6 steak

    Because of its weak armour, it was crap outside the flagroom, but really good inside.
