    Mojang have announced that on July 29th, the first 1.9 snapshot will be released, so the update is probably very close. In 1.9, there is no blocking, so assassin will be even more overpowered than it is now. Either assassin needs a change, or every class needs a shield.

    If shields are added, a different pattern could be added for each:

    Heavy
    Soldier
    Archer *
    Medic *
    Pyro *
    Pyro (by james3044)
    Dwarf *
    Ninja *
    Fashionista

    All the ones with * next to it were made by @PanDaniel_, who's much better at this than me
    Also, if you think they should be changed, go to the link and change something and add the link below

    Also, as a donator option, you could be allowed to customise than banners for each class. Maybe MVP/Elite's get this feature.

    It was replaced with shields, in my opinion it'll make combat a lot better. With dual wielding you'll be able to do both, by the way.

    Shields will be different than blocking. If someone is sword blocking, and the assassin fakes, then the one blocking will start hitting and will die. I feel that if shields are added, players will just hold them up till the assassin gives up. So if shields are added, assassins will have to solely rely on the element of suprise to kill.

    This is a good thing. Assassin in the first place was supposed to rely on the element of surprise, so maybe assassin will finally not be broken.

    Yes, but as of now, assassin has different strategies on killing, but if shields are added, it will take away many of these strategies. I am not saying that shields are a bad idea, but it will nerf assassin in many ways.

    Assassin will be fixed once it doesn't have to rely on a broken instant kill mechanic and lag to get kills and have an effect on the game. I agree with @1chilledchaos it looks like shields will nerf Assassin even more if thoroughly implemented into CTF especially since double wielding will be a thing.

    You can (double wielding is being added, so if you have a shield in one of your slots and a sword in the other then you can do it).

    Maybe. I can't really think of a different way assassin could be good at assassinating people without an instakill, though. Assassin is easy to kill as it is (unless you have lag) and adding shields means it'll be even easier.

    Yep. As I understand it with double wielding you could hold your shield up 24/7 if you wanted to. As for a non instant kill rework have you seen @obikenobi21's rework?

    1- Urm, no. A hospital sign is a red cross and medic is a health 'thing'.
    2-Ok, why on earth did you use so many slides for such a simple banner? Most of those are not necessary at all. I made the exact same thing with 3 slides! Look!
