    Wallspam is a massive problem in CTF and one of the biggest reasons that soldier is the next to be nerfed is because of excessive wall-climbing that makes its mobility way too high. This is a simple solution that doesn't need to be added alongside pyro.

    Adding a mana system to soldier's wall-climb can easily limit the amount of times it can use its wall-climb. Whenever a soldier wall-climbs, 1/5th of the XP bar is lost. Every second, 1/10th of the XP bar is gained back. If the XP bar is on 0, the player cannot wall-climb. Also, if the XP bar is on 0, XP bar increase is stopped for 3 seconds so that using it too much is used much less often.

    This should make soldier a lot harder to use outside the flag-room. Inside the flagroom, it doesn't make a lot of difference, so it doesn't need to be added alongside a pyro nerf as pyro is only really a major issue inside the flagroom. Pyro still needs a nerf, though.

    Numbers can be changed.

    I have coded this solution and I think it is the best solution, but the mods don't want it changed unless pyro is changed. They also don't really like it as far as I know, but I won't speak on their behalf.

    Okay. It should be added alongside a pyro nerf for 2 days or so for people to test and if people generally like it, it could be permanently added. Right now is beta, so this is the best time to do so.

    Pls add this nerf xD
    The most annoying thing about soldier is the excessive climbing in order to escape and simply wait for a medic.
    This nerf will still let soldiers take shortcuts but im glad they won't be able to stall anymore.

    Also, soldiers shouldn't be able to "climb" the ground. Like, that's just messed up.

    I agree almost 100% with this. The only flaw about it is that chemist, in my opinion, is even worse than soldier currently.

    I think it's fair for both soldiers and everyone else attacking them to have their cool down be identical to chemist. I've never counted, but I believe you can throw about 10 pots in a rapid succession (please anyone give me the truth if I'm wrong), and the recharge of the XP bar is rather slow. This way soldiers can still climb one fairly tall building and do what soldiers were made to do, but after climbing a building and dropping into a flagroom it can't climb up another building to get away. (Granted they can sit at the top and wait for their XP to recharge, but it's still only good for one climb.) It also helps with "ground-climbing" soldiers; you just have to wait for them to fall down for the final time.

    Lastly, I agree with the 3-second cooldown once the XP bar is drained. It really gives people a chance to get some damage on the soldier before it tries again to get away. I mean, really, it can't hurt that badly to PvP with iron gear.

    I believe it should only be like that when a player has the flag because it doesn't matter if someone wall spams without the flag but with it it could have a maana system.

    Another thing that's quite strange is how archer is able to kill someone straight away if they're 30 blocks away, but not if they're 29 blocks way. In fact, its quite strange how Dwarf's sword only levels up when they're crouching. There's quite a lot of things that don't make sense (the whole game makes no sense, its made of blocks, things can fly and steak heals you), and that's fine because its a game and it doesn't have to make sense.

    Yeah, when it is used often it can dodge a lot of damage, and with this it can't be used often :stuck_out_tongue:

    I like these ideas. As for pyro I made a 1.9 pyro rework. For soldier I had in mind to remove soldier's ability to climb the ground (climbing the ground doesn't even make sense at all, lol).

    Nothing makes sense in CTF - not even the fact that 2 teams are fighting to the death over a flag. Nothing has to make sense in games, which are why they're so abstract and unique.

    I agree, but what I think is kinda bad is the mechanics. Right-clicking the floor makes you fly up, maybe there should be a whole change to how Soldier works so when you Right-Click a wall it doesn't make you fly, but make you 'climb' it. Not saying this is easy... but meh.

    sure soldiers wallspam and that is annoying but well. u can run away, as archer you can wait until he is on the ground and shoot him (or hs him if he is far away)
    in my oppinion a soldier is made to cap and run away fast but u can still kill them easily (broken ninjas, assassins and archers)

    All this talk about removing floor-climbing. I'm a moderate plugin developer, and I can say that the solution to removing floor-climbing is either impractical or impossible. When the soldier clicks a block and the plugin "looks" at the block, Minecraft can't possibly tell the difference between a block on the ground or a block on a wall. The only somewhat rational solution I can think of is to check if the player is looking in a generally downward direction at the moment of the click, and if they are, don't wall-climb; but then you can still look down and click a wall block.

    @NomNuggetNom please tell me if this is wrong.
