I have an idea (probably hated by most of you guys lol)

Soldier cannot block jump on certain blocks (ex. Slime blocks, or some other block you choose) thus making map designs way easier.

Also, could we make it so soldiers can only do a certain amount of jumps per min? Like 30 or 40?
Unlimited spam jumping just gets on everyone's nerves.

Very much agreed, also a while back I suggested something like if you look at the ground and right-click you don't fly up, this could solve half of the problems. Also I find it very annoying when soldiers just keep on going up and down because it's hard to hit them and very frustrating.

As November said, coal ore does this. Map makers use it to coat the edges of the maps and stuff. It could be used in other places but its kind of ugly. Maybe if they made another block have the same effect like an iron block or something of that sort it would be more used throughout a map.

Why not just make certain things not climbable, similar to how engineers and necros cannot place their structures in certain areas, have the soldier get a message like "you cannot wall climb here".

That would take extra coding and make map making more complicated imo. Making it so that it's just a certain block seems more reasonable to me.

A proposed feature would require extra coding? Oh lordy that just sounds awful - after all we wouldn't want @NomNuggetNom to overwork himself!

haha, I guess you're right. I still stick to my other points though ;p It would take more time for map creators to wright out coords and stuff than for them to just make an area out of iron blocks or whatever block it would be o; For every map it would take a little extra time for the coders and the map makers.

I think the best solution is to have map makers determine which blocks aren't climbable. That way, they can make their maps with whatever blocks they want.

That's an interesting idea, but it would become confusing sometimes wouldn't it? For a similar reason to why the spawn blocks have to be certain blocks.

Spawn blocks don't have to be a certain block. If you pay attention, they are different on several maps. But yes, the downside is that it could be very confusing, especially to newer players.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure they have to be the color of the team.
Red: Redstone blocks or red wool
    Blue: Lapis or Blue wool
Could be wrong, I've always been told this though and it was on the 'how to make a ctf map' guide on the mcpvp forums.

Well, they should be the team color, but beyond that there is no guideline. Some maps have diamond blocks, and such.

I don't think it'd be that difficult to pick up. It'd be:
"Oh this works like coal ore too!"
As long as it's not over like 3 blocks.

As long as you don't add the spawn block anywhere else in the map, it's fine.
