Still, I think the sample size was fair. If the staff was really interested in what CTFers wanted though, they should've had a public advertised poll. They decided to say "it's more noob friendly" without even gathering data. They made their bed, now they must lie in a salty bed.

I agree with you on this, and on the way that you argued your poll. However I don't condone saltiness no matter how much it makes my popcorn taste better.

Also I know things that make the conversation irrelevant but I've been asked not to share them so yeah, I'll just leave that vague statement there.

Actually, edit. No, I'm not going to leave the debate here, because I like debate and I don't do intellectual turing tests enough anymore, so yeah, if you've got anything more than just "f*ck the staff," fire away.

Anyways yeah, while I don't care about the wool vs banner debate as a general rule, I can't deny it makes good debate fodder.

So, back to the topic at hand...

Cool bro. Essentially, here's how a majority is reached:

Based on this thread, the majority of the community seems to think that saying "the majority" is not relevant in an argument.

This is a great example at how using the "Majority" as an argument is stupid because Admiral, Lugia, Bawss, Tom, Chopo, Kat, and you are not a good example of a fair survey.

No. Citing a majority that does not exist or cannot be measured is not relevant to an argument for changes in CTF. Funnily enough you did it again in this post, so I fixed it for you:
7 people do not constitute a majority of the overall community, and you once again proved my point.

Yeah. That's valid. Small polls don't work.

Nor do polls that entirely miss half their voterbase. See what we're getting at?

You just made an assumption based off of 7 people, while (ironically) the majority of the forum didn't even get to vote before you made that assumption.

7 people don't represent a good sample size. 50-100 do.

But you don't know what size the CTF community is.

We can estimate about 1,000 users.

50-100 people who have likely been around since mcpvp don't represent the players who joined since brawl, nor do they represent the players from mcpvp who never knew about the forums or did but got pushed away by the exceptional amount of drivel this forum contains.

It's like interviewing a bunch of heavily opinionated old republicans and using that info to say that "__% of american voters prefer _______". You might have a good size sample but not enough diversity within it.

Also, while it's not about the topic exclusively, who's with me when I call this entire debacle #bannergate?

I think the majority of people use this because they want to get their point across...(mostly serious, little irony)

The majority of that post was situational irony.

I'm surprised you didn't quote any of my text in the same thread you got Nom's quote. None the less I understand what you mean in here and in some regard I'm guilty of this, though when I get my idea of a majority I'm referring to ideas that I have never seen argued against. (and I have tried to dig it out of people.) So it's easy to assume that the idea in question would be in favor of the majority when you have no one to argue against it. It's not actual proof of an majority of course but an educated guess that (in my opinion) still has value.

    Thank you for the thread.

see my other rant thread for details, but i would never talk about the majority of the community including all the brawl randies and other scrubs, i would talk about the 150 people in global ctf chat for example^^ or the 50 more in brawlers chat for example^^

and im sure no one else meant it in a way including all the non-regs because they are not community ^-^ just like murica tourists are not muricans.

and as ive also stated in my other rant thread, its important to listen to the community and the regs. and if i for example put some potentially controversial thesis in global ingame chat and only get positive resonance, then i kind of assume there is at least a large group of people agreeing with me. same with the forums, when even people i usually tend to.. argue.. with via msg congratulate me to a post, i assume this is something very important to them.

just for the record, im one of those hardcore republicans @BAWSS5 who knows whats up because they know america (i dont like your metaphor and im democrat btw) ^^ If you'd have syrian refugees taking over murica and making syria 2.0, that'd sure be nice because they are more and they have a right to, but it's just not america anymore, is it.. (im just making nonsense out of your metaphor, i a refugee supporter to just about any extent)..

Typical Brawl forum metaphors: unrelated, hard to understand, and nonsensical.
