    I would agree that implementing such a system would be a decent idea if it was actually an issue. I can't speak for everybody but I can use the spreadsheet.

    Between the 12/11-12/13 debate nearly all matches have been conducted besides one that wasn't due to Referee reasons.
    That includes around 4 Officials, 10 Unofficials and 10 Practices. If there really was an issue with Referees, why were all of these successful?

    I can also speak personally, as I've repped when we've had less mods and am currently repping and scheduling matches. And to put it in the simplest terms:

    It's not hard to get referees.

    Wasn't the main problem more that rule breaks are being missed because one set of eyes can't be everywhere? I was rep for a team a year ago and mods were always really happy to ref, I know it's the same now and definitely not an issue x3
    I don't however think, that was why bran suggested a ref rank

    I mean not being able to find refs isn't a big problem, most of the time you can. But if a ref is late, or decided they cannot make it, a ref rank would come in useful as they could fill in. If we have 2-3 ref ranks, it would take a whole lot of stress off mods and provide extra support to deal with the mass of games being played. Additionally, they are an extra pair of eyes to look out for rule breakers. Honestly, I don't see the negative side to this.

    Or instead of refs we could just go all the way and have more mods? In fact, just make everyone a mod. Now everyone can ref the matches and get the special pink/purple name of power! Lord knows how many people want to be mod and hell CTF already has 8 of them so I honestly don't see how it would make the mod overpopulation any worse than it currently is plus it would make hackers go away! Why? Because there would be like 200 mods on at all times to ban them. I mean what's the hacker's or rule breaker's worst nightmare aside from their parents? An army of sarcastic moderators!

    Problem solved.

    You can't just "fix" a person. If a mod is bad at reffing, you can't upload some magical code to fix them, but you can with classes.

    See the thing is, often referees may turn up and set maps, but I have been in plenty of matches where they had to go, or went afk. And I have also seen enough instances where since there was only one referee, who was paying attention, however simply cannot watch everywhere, and there have been some 'rule breaks' etc.

    Once again, this is my own experience, so whilst I can't speak for others on this issue, other responses would suggest they have had similar experiences.

    Well brawl.com has already accepted corrupt refs that may have the same name as the current season, so that is a very strong chance that lionaa or boomdrone will be accepted as ref based on a great application.

    Alright, let's give players ref ranks!
    "We need the commands to add/remove caps and such."
    "We need a poof command, or a creative command to go invis."
    "We need the mute command to stop people spamming or being unsportsmanlike."
    "We need the kick command to get rid of people joining random practices and such."
    You know what? Let's just give them all mod instead. It's basically the same.

    But they'd only have mod on the match server and their only responsibility would be to ref games, so refs can spend more time reffing and mods can spend more time moderating

    Honestly if you gave "refs" mod on the match server only it'd be good enough.

    On MCPVP, I really didn't think the Ref idea was a that bad idea, but it could have been difficult to apply one rank to one server. Now that we are on Brawl, I honestly think it would be easier for potential Refs to apply for moderator. If a player Reffing system were to be created, what would be apart of a Ref application? Maturity, experience, knowledge of the community, knowledge of the rules. What other application looks for these things? Mods! Seriously, it would be more likely to give JMod's access to /poof on the Match servers, so they can referee matches, than to create a rank, that looks for the same qualities as a JMod.

    You want more Refs? Apply for mod.

    The thing about a ref is that they could be ALMOST mod worthy but not quite there yet. This could be a step towards the right track for it. I guess you could kind of consider that as JMOD?? But usually JMODs are already good enough to be mods anyway.

    Look at it this way. A lot of people do not wish to be mod because of their responsibilities. Let's face it, we put a good amount on you guys. There's also the whole "being a brawl mod kind of sucks" deal, which turns some people off. I'm not saying create like a WHOOOOLLLEEE new rank and such, hence the quotations in the title, but just have a select few have some perms on only the match server. Well respected, trustworthy regs that play a lot would be the ideal choice. Yes, there's a bunch out there, so don't try to deny that (lookin at you bob).

    Don't take this the wrong way, ily guys, but the reason I'm bringing up the refs topic again is because I've seen so much unreliability among the mods when dealing with matches that it gets to the point where people are basically screaming at each other (over minecraft, yes), or a match doesn't start for another half hour to an hour, or postponed because the ref didn't show up or we can't find one. I'm NOT saying we should have 218368746761254 mods or refs, but an extra 3-4 or so would be nice to have. At least have 2 per match so we can have a backup + people looking at both teams for rule breaks.

    Most of the people who are denying the idea are mods, who are either saying they'd basically be the same thing as mod, (which is not necessarily true) or they don't need it, which the survey above clearly shows most members of the community disagree. Why does that matter? Because they are the ones who play in the matches. They are affected. They see the wrongs and the rights. And if my calculations are correct, you guys have about a little more than a 37% approval rating. And we don't even know how many of those "no" votes are coming from the mods themselves or from the community. A mod voting on what's basically an approval rating (sorry, truth) is like asking the stereotypical newbie to make a rework for their main class.

    C'mon guys >.< It's not rocket science. Something must be iffy if most people think this idea should be implemented.
