How I'm doing with new pyro

I love the new pyro, you have the same kill potential, with the use of only an axe now!

 

Honestly, I find new pyro more enjoyable.

 

I think it's time we de-fire immuned medic.

 

Get former pyro back please, new pyro is too OP...

It also takes more skill. Instead of just wildly swinging, you have to actually aim and hit them 5 times. It is kind of annoying when you can't land hits because the rest of your defense is crowding the capper though.

 

Try stopping any decent soldier capper when you don't have frenzy at the ready. It's essentially impossible to defend against a decent offence of soldiers/heavies now, even if you have ninja/assassin, because there's no good counter to high armour classes now.

Yes, you can run around with pyro in pub matches and have lots of fun killing noobs, but matches are going to be a whole other problem. There's also no reliable way of recovering off a decent soldier with medic support, so that's a thing.

 

True, and that's the reason why Medic's rapid heals need to be nerfed/reworked so it isn't so hard to recover off anyone who has Medic support without instant kills.

It doesn't make much sense to keep insta (or really rapid) heals if you're going to get rid of instant kills.

 

That's because yur to used to a pyro basically carrying defense. Offenses have long since learned to coordinate against a defense for precisely that reason, and that's why defenses have been a lot more fragmented and able to move outside the flagroom. However, with the new pyro defenses will need to learn to coordinate more, just like offenses have.

On your point about soldier, that's been a problem. Just because pyro is now nerfed doesn't mean that it was exactly that effective before. In fact, yur best bet for recovering off that is archer, even before the rework.

 

I'd be fine with changing defensive strategies, but as it is there's no class that can effectively counter what pyro is supposed to hard counter (heavy, soldier). Because let's face it, with pyro no longer carrying defence that role is going to shift to assassin, and when the core of your defence is a class with no armour but gold boots it's safe to say defence won't work.

I've always found pyro recovs favourable to archer recovs, purely because there are too many spots a flagcarrier can move to (on most maps) which provide cover from archers. Plus the fact that you're not guaranteed the recov unless someone on your team is waiting there.

 

I never played Pyro much before the update, but I actually do now from time to time. It feels more rewarding to play, getting your Frenzy and killing a ton of people around you.

The only issue I have is that with most classes I cancel shooting the bow by switching to the first slot, and that's caused me to accidentally activate Frenzy because I'm holding right-click. That's just my own problem though, and not an actual issue with the class.

Now that it can't instant kill, I think it'd be good to give it a Sword to block Assassins, but then again since Chap seems to want to eradicate Instant Kills it might not be necessary.

Imo, the new pyro no longer has a good counter - the old one was medic. Any class can be easily killed (literally almost an instakill, it takes almost all hearts but 2 or something) by a pyro if they are in frenzy mode.

 

Frenzy mode is less powerful than old instakills. I don't see the tiniest bit of logic in this argument.

 

I think what he/she is saying is that although pyros are less powerful against most classes, they are more powerful against medics, because of the double damage caused by frenzy mode. On a side note, @iMuffles, don't be so rude if someone says something that you interpret as dumb.

 

If it's dumb, which it is, I'm going to say it's dumb.

 

That's your decision in the end, but don't expect people to like you if you bash on them.

 

Who's saying I expect people to like me? I don't complain about crappy nerfs on forums to make friends, not sure about you.
