    Idea #1:
Have a set limit of banned maps

    E.G. "Let's ban 1 map"

Then choose what maps you'd like to ban.

    E.G.

<TO> I'd like to ban Blackout cuz it sux
<Defy> I'd like to ban Slums cuz we realized how much it sux

Then continue on to what maps you'd like to pick

    E.G.

    <TO> I pick slums
    <Defy> Can't I banned that!
<TO> Oh yeah, I'll just choose Giant Chests then
    <Defy> I choose <Insert other bad map here>
<TO> wanna agree On Opposites Collide?!?!?
    <Defy> Sure!

    Idea #2:
Have a set unlimited amount of banned maps

E.G. "Let's have unlimited banned maps"

Then choose what maps you'd like to ban (Make sure to PM a ref).

    E.G.

<TO> I'd like to ban Blackout, Skyworlds, and Medieval Seige cuz they all sux
<Ref> Okay, I'll tell you when Defy picks their banned maps.

<Defy> I'd like to ban Slums cuz we realized how much it sux
<Ref> Okay since you banned 1 map and TO banned 3, you get to choose last map

Then continue on to what maps you'd like to pick

    E.G.

    <TO> I pick slums
    <Defy> Can't I banned that!
<TO> Oh yeah, I'll just choose Giant Chests then
    <Defy> I choose <Insert other bad map here>
<TO> wanna agree On Opposites Collide?!?!?
<Defy> Actually since I have less banned map picks then you, I get to choose the last map.
<Defy> We pick <Insert even worse map here>

The only thing that would really change is that you will be able to ban maps (Kinda got this idea from LoL and banning champions and such). Send all the banned maps to a ref and whoever has less banned maps gets to choose the last map.

The bonus to this method is...
    1) You don't play laggy/terrible maps (Atlantis and Slums)
    2) If one team is SUPER op at let's say giant chests, then just ban that map and have a fair game instead of trying to limit each class in order to avoid abuse.

The minuses to this method is...
    1) If there you pick more maps, you don't get any say in the last map.
    2) A bit more work for refs (not an extreme amount), but they'd have to receive the maps and tell both reps who gets the last map.

Again this is just an idea. So don't go like "If this is implemented, I'm gonna kms". Be polite and considerate.

if this is implemented im gonna kms.

I think the idea is interesting but won't work out. Which maps would be there to choose from then? All CTF maps ever? What if we forget to ban a bad one? Or just those in rotation - will Pagodas original ever be played again then?
Also I think it's kind of hard to code it. Maps are loaded via map IDs atm afaik and how would you specify which map is a CTF map and which map isn't? Probably talking bull**** here though, ask the staff

I agree. In CoD competitive the teams that go against each other actually decide which guns are banned during the match among other variables. Having a pool of maps (that only can be decided by the team committee) sounds like a good idea, it can only speed up the process of having a match scheduled which I see no downfall in

Don't really get what you mean by teams get to ban maps. Explain simpler pl0x im slow in everything that's not like math or science.

@BrandinoB it's basically saying: Neither teams gets to pick blackout or whatever map they choose on.

EDIT: Look down at what slayerage said.

It means if the map is "banned" from the match, then it is not to be played on during the duration of the match

Well, the examples with LoL and CoD you guys give are similar to class bans in CTF, not map bans.

@5ivechang I know you do! Does that change anything? :3

The easiest way of explaining this is having each team allow a set number of Map Strikes for teams to ban maps not wanted in the match. The wording on this was pretty odd.

wtf nu guys, this is really only for reps who have to choose a map for map picking

You dont have to code anything... just state on the thread this map is not allowed to be picked or just tell the ref these are the maps we dont want to play.

Oh, it's not random - the refs are choosing? That's going to cause a large amount of conflicts ("you favored that team with this pick!"), don't you think?

5ive is just saying that if you don't want a team to play a map, you can ban it. So maybe, each team gets to ban 1 map. Smart ppl would ban the maps other teams r good on. The refs aren't picking.

nuuuu I dont think you understand xD I'm saying this for only representatives that have to pick maps to be played in a match. Basically if you dont want .. let's say .. Blackout to be played then just say to the ref we dont want blackout to be played.

Gonna rephrase cuz I think I made this very confusing:

Reps always get to choose maps, I'm just saying for example if you wanted to ban a limit of 5 maps then each team gets to ban 5 maps and then when you pick your maps, you cannot pick any of those maps and there was another idea in there, but idk how well this one will work. My second idea was that if you want unlimited map bans, the team that bans less maps than the other team gets to choose the last map.

Basically he means a Rep can ban a few maps that the other Rep can't pick for a match. The person who bans the least amount of maps gets to decide agreed.

Y'know, it's interesting that you and @Quarrelt would come up with very similar ideas at the same time, js. For those wondering why this particular topic came up now, a team picked the map 'Atlantis,' which was removed from the rotation a while back, in an unofficial match. This ended up being problematic, as the map caused major FPS lag for players on both sides. With that said, there's a slightly different way of fixing the issue at hand.

Right off the bat, this is a terrible idea. Giving teams the power to ban whichever map they think another team is good at will result in maps that aren't particularly bad / problematic being unavailable, and is pretty sure to cause arguments.

We have an existing grouping for maps that we consider too problematic to play seriously: Vault maps. These maps never entered rotation, but as they were made when CTF had a very limited selection of maps, the configs were kept around for matches. However, due to the many, many failings of these maps, we currently only allow them to be played in unofficial matches with the consent of both teams. Thus, what we could do instead of allowing teams to ban whichever maps don't suit them is to extend the "Vault" category to maps with major flaws. These would primarily be those with major FPS (Atlantis, Metro) or gameplay (Chunez, Slums) issues. We're not sure what the exact list of maps given that status would look like right now, and we would consult team representatives before making this change. Thoughts?

Quar thought of this too? well that's weird xd Anyway, I guess that would cause some arguments, but how many times have you heard in match videos "They just chose a bad map" or "This map is so bad", etc. There's plenty of maps to go around so that you shouldn't be good at only 3 maps and can still win because of it.

@5ivechang I like the idea, but pretty much everything Bos said. It'd also be just plain not fun for teams to never get to play their favorite maps that they're good at because the other team knows how strong they are in said maps.
