[Squad] WHITE POWER

Listen, buddy. I get the point you're trying to make. But some things I wanna say.

1. LGBT isn't politics, its a social issue.

2. This isn't dividing the community. It never was meant to be. Read my post there. It was made for that group to feel that they can talk about their problems and issues with fellow CTFers who understand what they are going through. I am a muslim, and I can't talk to anyone about the struggles I face because no one else here faces it.

3. Skype is private, this is public. Skype groups are not something everyone reads, only those in that chat can, and if everyone there is agreeing to what is being discussed… whether its racist jokes or rapist roleplays… then thats their problem. This is a public post, and ANYONE can read this. That's why it's a bigger issue. the LGBT community is just saying "hey were here and if you wanna be a part of this join us" it isnt advocating anything or trying to diving the community. Its just trying to help its own who are going through issues that only they can relate to. You and I can't relate to them, You and others can't relate to my Muslim struggles. Its just how it is.

In the end of it, that group wasn't meant to divide anyone, only bring in others who are facing problems and feel relaxed talking about it in a chat with others who have similar struggles. This was made as a joke but is also trying to publically promote divide.

 

Y'know, zzy, I'm somewhat sympathetic to parts of what you're trying to say. Yes, as a general rule, contentious political issues and the like don't have much of a place on the forums. In fact, some would argue that even political discussion and satire as a whole aren't great topics. After all,

And sure, maybe some of the people in this thread are taking what you've construed as satire a bit too seriously. The forums are meant to provide a positive, lighthearted atmosphere. Then again, you did dedicate a chunk of your time to making a post about how a largely informal group on the forums is a terrible idea because you personally don't think that others should associate based on sexuality. Now, my understanding is that the "LBGT+ Squad" is meant to be mainly meant to be an informal group. After all, none of the people involved chose to leave their CTF teams to be part of that group, it's just a thing on the side. And sure, playing matches seems pretty unrelated, but it's no less bizarre than having a squad whose membership is based on being British. At the end of the day, though, they're free to form a group if they want to, and you're free to state that you feel it could lead to the community being overly divided, assuming you don't go out of your way to be disrespectful or insulting. The post you made on the LGBT thread, for example, is a-ok.

This thread, on the other hand, is not. Want to know why? Because you gave up on that tone to single out an individual for mockery (see the beginning of the thread). And yes, likening a group of users to a hate ideology is, particularly in this context, mockery. You know that full well. And with that in mind, it amazes me that your responses to people in this thread have been so indignant. Of course people are going to respond negatively to a thread that takes an insulting tone, what else did you expect?

So, in summary, people are fine with you making your point about that squad. Just don't expect people to appreciate it if you go out of your way to insult them and/or their friends. Or, in other words,
