    Hello!

As I can't enjoy CTF at the moment because it is too laggy, I will instead be entertained by making this forums post.

I may sum up a few of the changes we received since the migration:
    -ninja's sword nerf
    -pyro's axe nerf
    -mage's range nerf
    -elf's damage nerf
    -medic's sword nerf
    -chemist's damage nerf
I do not recall a single significant damage buff, correct me if mistaken.

Do you know what it means if abilities and damage are nerfed? It is harder to die (for everyone), fights take longer and the role of PvP becomes more important.
One might argue all these classes were OP before and needed a nerf. Players may point out classes were ridiculously broken.
Through the fact just about every class was stronger, the game was not that unbalanced.
People say pyro was way too OP - well, ninja's stronger sword made up for that!
People say chemist was impossible to kill - it required skill! Ninja and pyro, the defense classes, countered it.
People say offense was too hard - soldier didn't have that wall-climb limit.

My point: stop nerfing classes. It does not balance the game further, especially not while dwarf remains unchanged. A lot of the nerfs were completely uncalled for.
Right now, buffed heavy, medic and of course chemist are OP again. Why? they don't die before they can heal themselves while the damage output is nearly that of a ninja - especially a buffed heavy with a medic.

Of course, heavy was harder to play way back when. But CTF isn't a pure PvP battleground. Take your arena fights into the appropriate match or back to Kohi.

In hindsight - why am I even requesting changes when I know it won't happen lmao

Too lazy to write an actual reply atm but
    Yes.

Kind of yes but especially yes for the bold part + engineer

lmao true, that is why I don't make threads about possible balances to classes or reworks anymore xDD Cuz as made clear by the april joke, Brawl just gives us the middle finger then goes off to who knows where.

Instead of nerfing every class, couldn't we just buff all the classes? It'll be the same result (balance) but on a scale that is much more entertaining. Of course instant kills will need to be addressed regardless.

This is a rather complex way to say "CTF is becoming a game of skill and I don't like that"

@obikenobi21 pure element got nerfed and medic's sword damage once used to be 6.75, is now 5.25. It was never announced officially and I haven't checked in the past few days, but I believe ninja is four-shot by medic atm...

@Tenshirox CTF I am not on CTF for the sake of showing off how fast I can click or that my american ping nukes australians

@Tysonyoshi the role of pyro is now basically all-dwarf... The power you had came with an enormous responsibility and weirdly not everyone was up for that with old pyro

To elaborate, @Tenshirox, CTF required different skill.
CTF required experience, and not the Kohi one.
Capping routes were more important, not everyone could play chemist after two fridays, you couldn't just go buffed heavy cap, recov and midfield in literally every situation, reflexes were more important...

I know you believe instakills are cheap and easy (considering I see you mainly playing heavy I'm not surprised), but they require(d) strategy. Strategy not really needed in that form any more as long as a medic stays near you...

If you are unaware I used to main Assassin and I also frequented Pyro. I can argue confidently that Assassin and Pyro took nowhere near the amount of skill granted with how rewarding both classes are.

If you don't want to take my word even though I've mained Assassin for a majority of my CTF time, other assassin mains will argue the same point (such as @obikenobi21 )

You couldn't do much with heavy because heavy was hard countered by Pyro, now that heavy doesn't die to Pyro %95 percent of the time it's too powerful???? I can agree Heavy (Which I don't play as often as you think.) has become a stronger class but to consider heavy worse than prenerf Pyro and Assassin is almost laughable.

The biggest reason I know instakills are cheap and easy is because I've played them for the majority of my time playing CTF, so much so that it's gone past a belief by this point and into an objective fact.

    @Plautius

implying that sitting by a flagpost, hitting an exploding arrow, and hitting someone else is skillful and requires strategy

implying that sitting in a spot and shooting arrows at people from afar is skillful and strategic

implying that right click, then left click, is skill

And buffed Heavy is OP as sht anyway. Anyone that actually plays Heavy without being buffed 24/7 knows that. Also, I fully support a small armor nerf to Heavy.

I played a few team matches recently against a Pyro defender, and I was crushing em. It's not that Pyro is UP or anything like that, it's that my opponent was literally incapable of hitting me more than twice. Heck even pre "rework," half the pyros I saw had trouble hitting me ONCE. That's not a class being balanced, that's the player being bad at the game.

It just so happened to be that players of that calibre were the ones calling Pyro balanced.

-Agree, wtf is up with dis lag

While yes it is harder to die, I don't see how the current pyro does that. It still kills super-fast, especially with frenzy. And wtf is wrong with the role of pvp becoming more important xdd That's an integral part of the PvP Server.

People did say pyro was too OP. And ninja didn't counter **** unless the pyro was kind of bad, or the ninja really good. Either way the pyro had an advantage.

Yes, spamming pots required skill. Also wtf, ninja countered chemist? Did you ever try to kill a decent chemist? And pyro countered everything but medic xddd. Even then chemist could just slow, poison, then run. And if we're talking about really far back chemist, the fire pots provided resistance to pyro insta-kill, so pyro didn't even counter chemist xdd

Who da faq says offense is too hard right now?

w8, I dun understand yur logic here. You say that they are OP "again," implying they were OP before. But if they were OP before, that means the pre-nerf environment didn't do crap to counter them either, implying it was unbalanced before as well.

I agree that medic is OP, but I don't agree that buffing everything is the way to counter it, instead just nerf fawkin medic.

Assassin has been nerfed last as a band-aid fix what, two years ago?
I think we don't have to talk about that nerf. I still respect assassins like Pablik and AdamLovesBarca for the skill they have, outplaying a very basic counter over and over despite the knowledge of their presence.

Pyro was indeed very rewarding considering the effort put into it, it was guaranteed to get a good KDR, I agree. But *within its role* it was perfectly fine. You couldn't just go midfield with pyro if your nametag didn't happen to include a cliff. Frenzy changed that. Pyro was very strong on defense and required strategy to outplay - a ninja or assassin helping you, a medic distracting, or also your avoiding being hit by it. I use heavy quite a lot myself right now and it's not even real pvp skill I invest... It's just jumping and hitting, no need to strafe with that armor.

You're at a disadvantage when outnumbered as any class. Instakill Pyro often needed more than 1 person to beat a lone Pyro on lots of maps. That in itself already shows that Pyro was at least somewhat busted.

Pyro was also pretty powerful on offense/midfield. And that's the only way I ever played Pyro myself. Flint and Steel is also very easy to use and spammable to make up for a slower bow.

Well yeah, of course Heavy's going to be easy when so many people nowadays can barley even PvP. That's on them and you, not Heavy.

Arguing that the previous status of CTF is better because it required more skill to work around OP classes ignores the fact that the people using the classes required little to no skill to pose such a threat. Pyro was not perfectly fine in its role, it was too powerful. The fact that a team has to outplay 1 person on defense is obvious signs that the class is too powerful. The fact that heavy can defeat a Pyro is good, granted I believe Pyro does need to be less squishy it's hardly akin to the absurd hard counters of the past.

@obikenobi21 pvp is an integral part, yes. But CTF always has been more than pvp, there must've been a reason for its popularity despite mcPvP also having a kitpvp gamemode.
Sharp 6 strength buffed critting ninja could two-shot pyro (in my book), anyway dealing more damage than right now.
Ninja also countered chemist moreso than now, andninjas could get indeed get very dangerous (as a recover player, you'll probably agree it's not that easy to bum off of health pots, but possible) - three-shots weren't that easy to survive as your average four-shot now... I usually just get outpinged/outpvp'd by a chist now, making them rarely use more than one pot.
Again though, the 'unkillable' chemists just had the skill~

About offense being too hard, note the past tense!

About the 'again' - might've been germanism - I meant that generally, even though there have been various nerfs to various classes, the problem persists.

And hey, you want to nerf medic? What'chu going to do about the class countered - pyro?

@Tysonyoshi you didn't get a better KDR as pyro than you would've as assassin, ninja or archer if you really tried o.o pyro was, and you're aware of that, a defense-only class in a very high percentage of the cases.

@Tenshirox solo pyro? Go medic! Y'see how that's the non-pvp thinking behind it?
