Seeing the quite negative reception of the latest map wave, I feel that perhaps a new, revamped map system may be necessary to satisfy the community. I feel, as may a good deal of you folks, that a more democratic system would be ideal for the better choosing of maps. However, we can also agree that static, long-lasting changes and decisions grow old quickly! So, to combat the community's lack of choice in choosing what maps are in rotation and to combat the stale taste of playing the same set of maps every time one gets on, we are to make a new weekly day event that occurs like Freeday. This day would ideally be called Mapday or some other simple, kiddy name like that. Of course, it would not be intelligent to schedule this day on the same day as Freeday as having it scheduled on the same day would discourage some from playing on this essential day nor would it be intelligent to schedule this day on a day that sees little player traffic for MCCTF. So, to make an ideal day for Mapday, one would either schedule it on Saturday every week or have it take turns with Freeday to occur on Friday (Mapday first week, Freeday second week, Mapday third week, and so on).

Now, you may ask what is the purpose of Mapday? Well, there are two purposes. 1. To choose the map rotation for the following week and 2. to allow players to play and/or discover old maps that they may miss and/or have never played (such as Islands). All maps that have ever been in rotation in MCCTF (with perhaps a limit to allow for each map a chance to be played on Mapday) will be playable on this day. Now, how would the rotation for the following week after Mapday be chosen? Simple: voting. A select number of maps (whatever the staff would choose) that were played on Mapday will be chosen based on their yes to no ratio. The higher the ratio, the higher the map is on the rotation list. Once Mapday is over, the top (insert number here) maps will be the map rotation for the week following Mapday. With Mapday implemented, players will have an opportunity to play old maps that they may miss, the choice to democratically choose the maps that are to be in rotation for the following week, and the opportunity to discover and perhaps love maps that they have never had the opportunity to play before.

One problem one may see with Mapday is, of course, the great quantity of maps to be found on this day. However, to clear out the amount of maps that can flood the server this day, maps that are found to have bad yes to no ratios (more nos than yeses), would be removed. This would, ideally, sufficiently clear out the number of maps that have to be played through on Mapday. Another problem that one may find with this idea is the fact that in order to vote, one must play on Mapday and vote on the maps that they play. However, I would propose another voting system to take place simultaneously to the standard yes/no voting that would take place on Mapday. A voting menu that one would access through a command that would allow one to pick a select number of maps that they want in next week's rotation and maps that they don't want in next week's rotation. However, in order to use this voting menu, a player must have played at least 100 games, and in order to vote for whether or not they want a map in the next week's rotation, they must have had played at least 5-10 games on said map.

I was thinking of instead of just a random map being chosen, a list of maps was shown, in the same way the yes or no buttons are shown now, so all the maps that are currently in rotation are shown and can be voted for. With the voted maps being removed in place of the newer maps. And the process repeats.
