Team matches are pointless

    I'll ask you a question. What actually has more weight? An unofficial match, or an official match?

    The truth is that it's none. Winning an official match only gives you slightly more bragging rights and takes away the "lol carried by mercs" john.

    So what would be nice to see, is some sort of league system with weekly or bi-weekly matches in place. Get teams to play against each other some more, and make winning a match actually mean something. It'd also bring in interest from other gamemodes around here if something like that would be here and known. The only matches that happen that are *actually* official are tourney matches.

    Running it might be somewhat difficult due to needing refs and stuff, but I think it could work out. And it's not like teams *have* to join said league. The only other problem I could see with this is that a lot of teams seem to be incapable or getting together 7 people on from a 15-25 man roster.

    There should be a more centralized ruleset and map pool for this league. Make it always something like 7v7 or 8v8, and mandatory rules every match for consistency. It's never fun when a team brings up some really old removed map from ages ago. The amount of maps available to play is way too big, and everyone should know what maps they can and could play on. In that topic, a couple maps made for XvX play would be nice.

    EDIT: Smaller caps on how many people teams can have would be alright too, just so we can have more active teams at once. But that's a lot to ask for.

    EDIT 2: Some people seem to think this will overhaul the current system. A league or more frequent tourneys that I suggest is only going to be off to the side in a sense. It wouldn't even be something a team is required to join. How things are currently done and the current system would stay.

    Maybe just say u have to play the other 8 teams in the league, you have 12 weeks to play all of the matches. Official/refs required though and same rules/size all the time though.

    I'm just providing a rough idea of what might happen. How exactly it should be run and rules should be up to whoever decides to run it. I do want to see it set to a certain set of rules and 7v7 or 8v8 at least.

    I feel like this would remove the more family aspect many CTF teams have. Overall, teams usually focus more about making friends than being hardcore Minecraft Capture the Flaggers. Hclewk tried making CTF Teams a more official and serious thing when he integrated it with MLG those many eons ago, and it didn't really work out.

    Matches have no real value in the team scene, but it has value in the experiences had.

    Matches are made to be competitive yes.. But lots of people just play them for fun. Without needing the league idea. However it could work. I guess.

    I recently talked to @Decelvice about implementing some sort of league in ctf. At the end we decided that it would be really hard to implement. Especially if all teams would join the league and you would have 8 matches played every weekend. This doesn't mean that I don't like a league idea though.

    I don't think making a schedule for the teams that enter and making sure each match is reffed is the hard part. *cough* more refs that aren't mods *cough*
    It's definitely work, but I'd like to see what else it means by "hard to implement" other than 8 matches a week.


    The hard part to me is that teams tend to have a really difficult time getting enough people in for a match, which can make the whole thing kinda fall apart unless there's a given procedure for if not enough people show up to a given team.

    I'd actually love to see some sort of league system with somewhat scheduled times, but the problem with CTF compared to say any professional or semi professional league system is that not everyone can 100% dedicate to matches at certain times.

    The problem with or without leagues is getting players, especially as of late (I can't testify with my own experience but it's what I've heard).

    Anyway, I think a lot of this could be solved by just scheduling a lot more tourneys. Not all of them have to have big prizes and such.

    More tourneys would work too. I'd be on board for that.

    there should also be rules in place to prevent certain teams from only accepting matches they know they can win, kind of ruins the point of the game

    I think it would be cool if the teams were like LoL Esports, so i'll name a few team names off the top of my head that could be CTF teams: DiamondMiners (e.g. DM BlitzcrankLoL), Emerald Legion (e.g. EL BlitzcrankLoL), Knight Recon(e.g. KR BlitzcrankLoL).
