"My boots are wet" Piky sighed as strike team one moved in toward it's objective. The team's morale was high, but were jumpy. Many of them, Piky included, hadn't quite shaken off watching the second strike team's transport be shot down.
"Stop" whispered Light from the point of the twenty strong formation. He moved forward slowly, gently glowing nural mesh sweeping back and forth. Suddenly, his head snapped to the right and a tomahawk flashed in his hand. A red tinted soldier fell out of a nearby bush with the weapon stuck fast in his skull, helmet split.
"We've been spotted no doubt" Light whispered as he crept back to the group, "move yourselves, go!". Piky flicked the side of his helmet and pressed a few buttons on the interface.
"Activating scanning systems" reported the HUD. Piky's eyes widened as red dots filled the outskirts of the scan.
"Hostiles inbound from all sides!" His whisper into his comms were a barely suppressed shout. The only reason why they were being quiet at this point was that the enemy's scanning systems weren't spot on detection.
"Helmets off, turn off everything!" Hissed Light, making a looping gesture with his hand. The now very small feeling group of soldiers slowly moved inward into an outward facing cluster of guns. Soft clicks and hums were audible for only a moment as everything powered off.
"I don't like this" muttered Cesium, the squads heavy ordinance fighter as he was powering off the targeting computer in his LAW launcher.
"Shut up" hissed randy, gently removing an arrow from his quiver as he did so. A deathly quiet descended around Strike team One.

The first gunshot lulled Piky out of his tense, darkness induced trance. The cluster didn't know where it came from, but they all jumped collectively.
"Heads down" Whispered Light. Piky saw Randy's bow go taught and grimaced.
"This is the fun part" he said, rolling his eyes.
"Heavy ordinance!" Shouted Light, standing and activating all of his equipment at once. Cesium yelled something as his RPG released it's fury into the woods, Randy fired his bow, which hit something with an audible gasp of pain and surprise. A single 'beep' could be heard before the body exploded. Gunfire exploded in all directions, Piky joining in as his HUD came back online.
"Hostiles detected, marking" chimed the onboard systems. Red outlines filled Piky's view and he felt his heart sink. They were outnumbered at least three to one. A quick movement put a bullet through the nearest target's skull. As time seemed to begin moving again, Light ordered the group of soldiers (through the hail of bullets that had already claimed five of the twenty men's lives) to punch through the right flank. Piky went to work on anyone he saw in that direction.
"Reloaded!" Shouted Cesium, "cover me!". He ran headlong into the hail of gunfire, sliding into cover behind a tree.
"Grenade! Hit the dirt!" Shouted a soldier behind Piky, who threw him down as dirt and splintered wood filled the air. Besides his ears being reduced to ringing pieces of skin, Piky was relived to see that he was alright. A few more of his strike team were cut down infront of his face as the small team moved from cover to cover toward the painfully slowly dwindling number of hostile forces.
"Go high!" Shouted someone from behind him. Piky nodded, remembering his grappling equipment. A quick HUD calculation later he was balanced on the bow of a nearby tree. Light was in another, pinned down as automatic weapon fire reduced the environment around him to splinters. Piky reloaded and took a shot, killing one hostile instantly, making the other three snap their glowing red night vision toward him.
"Watch the right!" He shouted to his allies below him, ducking behind the tree's natural cover and hunkering there. His HUD counted about ten of the original twenty in his strike team were still fighting, two more were bleeding out.
"Catch!" Yelled Light from his own position, tossing a flashbang into Piky's gloves. He nodded at him and pulled the pin, speaking into his comms as he did so, "Cesium, take your shot when the flashbang goes off"
"I hear you-- Oh no baby are you okay?" he replied, gasping as his LAW took a few bullets. Piky rolled his eyes, half smiling despite the situation. The flashbang flew out, a hail of gunfire moving into his direction as the hostiles were drawn to the flash of movement.
"Yeeee haw!" Yelled Cesium, loud enough to be heard even without the comms. a fireball erupted in a pod of about six hostiles, all of them eliminated in a second.
"Move in! Go go go!" Ordered Light as he jumped down from his tree and began sprinting through the hole in the opposition. Piky and the rest of the survivors followed suit through the gunfire of perusing forces.

"Damn it!" Shouted Diamond as the blue dots flickered off one by one into the forest. His tactical map had shown him everything he needed to see. Shoving himself away from the glowing surface, his hand meeting with his chin as he paced. "Where are you now infiltrator Bud?" Diamond spoke through his comms.
"Moving in on the remaining forces from the crashed transport now sir" came the hushed reply.
"You have a small window, the forces dropped to our east are moving quickly. Finish up there and retreat back toward the compound"
"Yes sir". The comms clicked off.
"Feather. Take a strike team. The computers are already triangulating the other team's most likely direction of escape based on Light's previous maneuvers" Diamond gestured to the soldier and added, "good luck.. Take light first". She nodded and moved quickly toward the elevators.

"We have to rendezvous with the other strike team" Piky said to Light. The two were a little ways from the pack. A feeling of tension and fear had descended around the ragged team.
"Hey fellas, one of the specialist officers, guy named Randy, has reported that the remains of the hostile force is on the move in our direction" Cesium said as he came over to the others.
"Thank you Cesium" Light replied, turning his softly glowing eyes in Piky's direction, "they knew we were coming. If we meet with the other team that'll be more electronics to track. More noise to be heard. More chances of failure. No. We're not going to meet with the other team"
"Sir, we need as many people as possible if this is going to work" Piky responded tentatively, "you remember what happened the last time you tired to make an assault work with minimal forces". Light's eyes narrowed, "listen Piky, I respect your opinion, but we're being hunted right now, as we speak. If we don't do something to knock out our opponent's intelligence systems will give them information to shoot down the rest of our transports. Phase two of the assault is beginning in an hour. There's no time to rendezvous with anyone" Light growled, crossing his arms as if to physically ward of further inquiry.
"But sir--" Piky was cut off by a shout from behind him.
"Piky down!" Light yelled, throwing his comrade to the ground as a bullet crashed into his shoulder armor. Light made a groan of agony, crushing his teeth together to avoid making anything louder. His good arm flashed out in a "disperse" motion. The wide eyed blue soldiers scrambled for cover as red forces came streaming from the forest around them.
"Light you have to get up!" Cesium shouted as gunfire lit up the small clearing they taken refuge in, soldiers shouting and screaming filling Piky's ears.
"Go Cesium! Piky you as well! Take the men, Piky you need to find the others. We need numbers now more than anything. There's no hiding any--" he stopped, eyes wide. A long haired soldier with a bow stood over him. Cesium yelled something, his fist smashing across his target's face. She recovered, shooting two arrows. One catching his foot, pinning Cesium there both physically and mentally, pain driving itself out of his mouth in a shout of agony. The second arrow smashed into hand, pinning him into the nearest tree. Cesium's eyes rolled up and he went limp as blood began leaking from the arrows.
Piky's knife was shot out of his hand by the third arrow, the fourth smashing into his HUD computer's calibration system, making his vision go from the horror show before him to a field of static and screeching noise. By the time his helmet had come off and his vision cleared, Light was gone. Cesium had passed out, the arrow in his foot now beside him.
"Must have been the pain" Piky guessed, not fully realizing his situation yet due to the unending ringing in his ears.
"Don't move an inch Blue scum" Came a commanding voice from behind him, followed by the 'clack' of his own pistol being cocked against his head.
