Ref Rank CTF

And yeah P vs TeamG had to be become an unof due to the fact that no mods were available.

We were lucky that @b0squet was so kind to be able to pause/help us out with the whitelist or else we wouldn't have even had the unof.

 

Things that cause matches to not go smoothly:

-Mods not being available
-Reps not asking/confirming/reminding refs
-Threads not being updated
-Agreed picks not being agreed upon until right before the match
-Players no-showing
-Mods no-showing
-Playsrs break rules
-Mods miss rule breaking (You could have 4 mods and something would still probably be missed).

You cannot put all the blame on mods just not being available for these few maps. Poor communication from all sides causes poor set ups. This is my first summer with an actual job so I apologize for the 1 match in 3 years I slept through by accident. Also, just because a mod confirms does not mean they will remember 100%. I know for me I always ask my ref the day of/before if they're still available to ref. None of us asked for a red for the P v. Gen game so that was our fault as teams.

Matches take forever to start because starting in general takes forever with players leaving, mods setting up, people not paying attention etc...

Finally, we can't do a single server permission - an actual technical reason we can't do it.

I get why everyone wants it, but it's really not just "lack of mods" that cause this problem.

 

I'm saying a ref rank will not solve the problems. And by 1 server, I mean global. War, CTF, etc.. For 1 specific server it does not work/they will not do it. We have been told this several times when we have discussed this ourselves.

 

The main problem has always been that there aren't any mods available, you are just bringing up other problems that don't have nearly as much impact as the fact that it is quite hard to get a mod to ref a match, especially when there are 2 matches at once.

 

Considering it has been said multiple times we cannot do this - there's always rescheduling, moving your time if you do not get a ref. If you ask every ref and no one is available (which mostly doesn't happen), the match should be moved. Same goes if two matches are scheduled at the same time and only 1 ref is available.

Since this is always going to be a flawed system, teams - myself included, should meet each other half way. Mods should be more clear about when they can ref and make it more important, but reps need to confirm their refs and remind them, as well as making match adjustments should there be no refs available.

If a rank won't solve the problem, another solution should be found instead of continuing to complain that it's the only thing we can do.

 

But a rank will solve the problem....

Gone over this quite a bit and I'll say this again, the mods can't be everywhere at once, leading to many unseen rule breaks. Also, as you said, the mods aren't always available, WHICH IS THE MAJOR PROBLEM WE WANT TO SOLVE.
The ref rank is the solution.

Anyways, what is your idea to solve the problem? Last that I checked the committee can't even rework dwarf and necro, let alone find out a way to solve the constant problem of mods not being available for matches.

 

Please make this a thing. For tc vs rr, nezzr showed up but couldn't ref it because it was official so we were going to make it unoff since we couldn't find a ref, but luckily quar showed up.

 

You're missing my point. We CANT get the rank. We've been told. It's not a question of wanting to or not, we CANT. Unless they come randomly tell us we can get a rank for players for our match server, we can't do it.

So I'm suggesting why don't we find another solution, a compromise.

Honestly, I don't mind trying to work on this game and these problems with you guys, but when you don't listen or understand what we're saying - we feel it's pointless. Just like how you feel when you think we're "not doing anything, so it's pointless to suggest things." What was the point of even bringing that into this conversation. Like seriously, was that necessary?

Nom was working on the EULA. We have to come up with an assassin change before we update to 1.10. We only have 1 coder that isn't on demand like you seem to think. We try working on things with you guys but all we get is "oh it will never happen anyway." I know this is derailed a bit but stop throwing it in our faces that you think we sit around and do nothing, because that's just not true.

We don't want a pity party but it would be nice to have a compromise, or at least an attempt.

And I did make suggestions. Just because it wasn't a rank doesn't mean it wasn't a suggestion.

 

This is why I do not care for teams.

Are you saying you guys (all the staff) isn't able to code it or MODS don't have access to code it?

What's stopping you from not being able to do a single server permission?
