    Hey, guys! I'm interested in finding out some of your views on CTF maps. If you could take a couple of minutes to complete this survey for me it would be greatly appreciated.

    There's such a varied mix of opinions throughout the forums that it gets hard to tell what the majority actually wants. Hopefully this clears some things up for me. If I see anything specific from regulars that repeats itself over and over again I'd like to share what I find and try to get something done about it.

    If you have any additional ideas for map themes or freshening up the rotation I'd love to hear about them.

    There's a lot of maps both in the rotation and that have been removed which have just big issues that could be fixed relatively easily. I'd much rather see a map have small changes to fix these issues than just be put out the rotation straight away. If every map got small updates when they were added if they're not quite perfect, it'd make the game a lot better.

    I voted but I think that the survey link should be advertised on CTF servers so we can get data from newer players and people who don't have forum accounts.

    Newer players probably won't know the majority of maps, especially the ones that have been removed. They don't understand how maps need to be balanced for gameplay. This is a survey for regulars, not the new players.

    Yeah. Plus, new players don't have forums accounts. I pretty sure most regular CTFers will take this survey.

    The main reason maps like Ship Battle have not been removed is because of the yes and no poll at the end of a game. I'm fairly certain most regulars dislike that map, but SoCool is right in that sense.

    So just keep in mind that the results of this survey need to be compared with the main yes/no results we get, otherwise we do neglect that entire group of players - regardless of how "new" they are.

    I usually don't even vote /n or /y because I forgot and can't be bothered, I'm sure quite a few regulars are like this do I think it'd be good to compare the survey results and the yes/no results.

    I hope you're welcoming details because my responses are a bit long :stuck_out_tongue: (yknow, as usual with me and forum things)
    imo set the yes/no polls back to zero and see what you get then. I get the feeling that community opinion has changed in the past... I don't know how long lol.

    Also, I have no idea if the like/dislike GUI pops up at the end of games anymore, I made it a habit to exit out of it so quickly that I never even know if it's there. Idk what others think of it, but personally it's not a super effective way of getting yes/no votes out of me.

    I think the server polls were actually reset pretty recently (last wave update?), so hopefully it reflects more accurately.

    I have 70 responses so far, aiming for 150. I'll start PMing regulars to answer if needed. So far Ship Battle is rating very unfavorably.

    Up to 100 responses. I'd like to get at least 50 more. Started messaging people with the most clocked in-game time, seeing as they are the most affected.

    I think this survey is a good idea to generally gauge what the forums community wants as far as maps are concerned, but since it's a voluntary response survey the results you get from this should be taken with a grain of salt statistically.

    Thus the importance of comparing it with in-game voting.

    I think regulars/players active in forums are less likely to vote for a map at the end of every game because of how often it pops up. This will be interesting to compare.

    In game voting is also voluntary response survey and it's a much worse way of getting a sense of what people think of maps. Why? Say someone, like me, had a really terrible game KDR wise (as I often do) sometimes they will down-vote a map simply because they're mad and vote /n to vent their anger even though they may actually like the map a great deal.

    I doubt that you'll get much valuable information out of comparing results from the two but it's a good effort and you deserve plenty support for it.

    Well, I've started messaging regulars who probably wouldn't have answered the survey if I had not asked them... and their more pessimistic view of answering surveys was pretty well reflected in their amount of negative votes on maps. Sooooo at least this is seeing what people who are willing to answer a survey might be interested in.
