Actually, the real issue was the sheriff guns needed a buff. Sheriff armor can never be buffed in a satisfactory manner because of how Minecraft calculates damage reduction. Even buffing sheriff armor to prot IV (on average 84%) wouldn't work the best. Why? Damage reduction from that fluctuates greatly, ranging anywhere from 76%-92%. So that means that occasionally it would be super OP or super UP. And this isn't the only reason why sheriff guns were buffed instead of armor. Buffing armor over guns would still have been UP for sheriffs because it would have made fights more numbers based rather than skill based. This is why. When guns kill faster, it takes more skill to win fights. One highly skilled player can take down an entire team if both sides have guns that kill quickly. That's why clutches are even possible in the first place. Take WarZ or M4 as an example. Skill can definitely be better than numbers. This is why the guns were buffed instead of the armor. We all know that 90% of the time, sheriffs are outnumbered. If they are skilled enough, they can take out a team due to how quickly the sheriff guns (namely the repeater) can kill a full D. However, it must be noted that illegal guns can kill a sheriff just as quickly (or in the case of the model, even quicker). Bandits still have all the advantage combat wise (see here), so there is really nothing to complain about.

 

Sheriffs get their gear for free, and with the new update its basically a free set every respawn. Funny how everybody who shoots down the ideas to nerf sheriff guns are sheriffs. No player wants to get one shot. As for frustration @SoCool21, have you ever worked your ass off for gear only to lose it to some greedy sheriff? Honesty, more than once you ruined our fun by cuffing instead of fighting.

 

1. If sheriffs bought their gear, players would still complain when they died to them. It literally changes nothing combat wise which is what was changed with this update. 2. Funny how everyone who wants to nerf sheriffs in an unreasonable manner aren't. 3. The repeater does not OSK full Ds. Indian armor could already be OSK-ed before the update via a headshot, so this is irrelevant.

 

For sure that makes sense. Players are leaving because "sheriff armor isn't as good as diamond armor" (Sarcasm btw)
YOUR GEAR IS FREE it shouldn't be equivalent to the best gear in the game. Illegal gear takes an hour or 2 to get where as you spawn with yours every two minutes.

I agree the reason new players are leaving is because sheriffs armor isn't equal to or better than the best armor in the game.

 

I see your point. However, whenever I play bandit, I beat off wave after wave of sheriiffs until I either log or run because I run out of ammo. This is not fun for the sheriff :/

 

I understand that it might not be "fun" to have worse gear than bandits with the best gear. However what you have to understand is that being a sheriff is a position you volunteer for, nobody is forcing you to be a sheriff. The bottom line is that if you are a sheriff you shouldn't be getting guns that are as good as illegal ones because the illegal guns are illegal for a reason. They are overpowered, but they have a lot of risk, in using them you have the chance of getting everything taken from you if you choose to use them. Sheriffs currently are at a good place and I feel that there is no need for further changes.
