    Match Spotlight Weekly Issue #2
    [IMG]
Article #1 - Last Week's Predictions by Various

obikenobi21 - I think TT will sweep Anni

LordCh4os - Part 1 - TT vs Anni: Both teams have some veteran players in there. TT are much more active and so can keep up their ability to work as a team. Anni have been inactive for a long time. That gives TT an advantage both offensively and defensively. I think it'll be an easy 3-0 3-0 for TT. Part 2 - MI vs Unity: both teams have a mixture of older and newer players. Lately Unity has been gaining a few more experienced players, whilst MI has recently lost some of theirs. I believe this will give Unity an advantage in the game, but not enough for an outright sweep. Final scores I predict 3-1 3-1 in favour of Unity.

Dankmastr_Memesn - Templars have a .907 winning percentage so I'm pretty sure they're going to win lol

sportyman56 - Tt should win this one quite easily, I think they will win 3-0 and 3-1, anni will get a lucky cap on airlock.

Accuracy of the team's predictions are displayed by color, green being the most accurate, orange being closer to accurate, and red being off.

Match Of The Week #1 - Unity vs Morimur Invictus by Soviet_7777777
    [IMG]
On September 18th, Unity and MI (Morimur Invictus) faced off against each other, in what would be a fight to the finish. Both teams started off in Vallen of Ruin V with Depresso (Soldier) and TomD53 (chemist) stealing the flags, forcing a stalemate. As Unity and MI faced each other in this stalemate, Unity’s roster was heavily invested in recovering the flag, leaving Unity with few people to guard Tom.

Then shrewdly, Unity sent in simcb for a sneaky assassin recover attempt. Simcb was nearing close and closer (still being out of the line of sight from MI’s defense). Depresso narrowly escaped death when simcb first striked until Depresso realized what was going on and made a run for it. After the failed assassination attempt, Ninjaxal attempted to initiate a frenzy recover but Depresso saw the threat coming, and reacted quickly and hid in a safe place leaving Ninjaxal with a disadvantage and the defense ready to suck its teeth into Ninjaxal. Back on Unity’s defense things were rather less chaotic until out of nowhere, sportyman56 appeared and overwhelmed TomD53, forcing a recover for MI; looking like that they were going to have the cap, until at the last second, Arion_ came out and stole for a last attempt to prevent MI from capping. Unfortunately for Unity, MI’s defense had regrouped allowing for a quick recover and forcing a capture in favor of MI. MI also pulled of another capture, this time using chemist leading VOR with a 2-0 lead. Near the second half of the first map, Tom pulled off a capture shrinking MI’s lead to 2-1. At the end of the match, MI sealed the deal with another capture ending the first map 2-1 MI.

On the second map (Dragon Valley) Unity manages to force another stalemate but MI recovers the flag forcing a 1-0 lead. MI repeats this for a 2-0 lead. Although MI did recover the flag for Depresso to cap, he couldn’t reach the flag room before the game ended securing a victory for MI 2-0. Well played match from two exceptionally good teams.

Article #2 - Interview with Deplicasus by gamren

[IMG] Congrats on your recent win! First of all, what was your thoughts going into this match? How did the rest of the team feel?

[IMG] Well, going into the match, I didn't really expect to win. I was hoping for a hilarious match that hopefully went our way. I didn't really ask how the rest of the team felt, but I'm pretty sure most of them were hyped.

[IMG] Nice! What did you guys do to practice and prepare for this match, if you did?

[IMG] We all just practiced individually during the course of the day. Then, about half an hour before the match, we did roles and maps, and just played the match.

[IMG] Alright, sounds good. With these recent wins, many teams are going to start to notice MI and respect them possibly as a stronger team. How do you feel about this?

[IMG] It feels great. Especially considering one of those matches was one of our member's first match ever, as well as one of our other member's first match in 4 months or so.

[IMG] Awesome. Final question. What were your first thoughts when leadership was transferred around due to the BK members leaving the team?

[IMG] My first reaction was that MI would probably end up like MJT. But I still made the effort to get matches, and even though we lost 3 of them or so in a row, we soon got new members like Dep, Casper and Cherry to fill in the places left by the BK members.

[IMG] So it all worked out. Thanks for taking allowing us to interview you, and once again congrats on your win! Good luck in future matches!

Article #3 - TT vs Anni by gamren

Recently with new additions to their roster, Anni has been on the spotlight by many teams and players to see how their new roster would work out. TT vs Anni was a chance for them to prove themselves against some top tier teams, and this match was definitely highly anticipated by many. The first map was the classic Anni pick, airlock, with the match itself being 8 vs 8. Going into the match, TT got a quick steal two minutes in, resulting in a capture for TT after a failed offensive attempt from Anni to counter the steal. Later on in the game after quite some time of failed attempts from both sides offense. Eventually, TT stole again, resulting in a clean capture. The map ended 3-0 in TT’s favor after a nice recovery by chilled.

Map 2 was Pagodas, TT’s pick. As shown in the past, TT is quite strong on Pagodas, and it is usually one of their more favoured map picks. Game 2 ended in a strong 3-0 finish by TT, with the final scores being 6-0 TT. Although a dominant performance by TT, Anni showed strong stealing capabilities, and their recovery and defense certainly gave TT some trouble, but they were no match in the end for The Templars.

Article #4 - Interview with Trebr by Daniellll

[IMG] What were your expectations going into this match?

[IMG] Going into the match I was expecting TT would play as strong as it usually does. I wasn't sure how Anni would perform because they've gotten some new members and their members have been performing pretty well in unofficials. Both teams did some good things but obviously when it came down to performance, TT dominated the match.

[IMG] You seem to be quite new to TT, how is it?

[IMG] I enjoy being on the team. Some of my better friends were on it before I joined. It's a good fit for me.

[IMG] If there were to be another tourney in the future, how do you think that would turn out for TT?

[IMG] With a lot of new teams in the team scene I think another tournament would play out more interestingly for TT. Old teams have gotten better and new teams are rising up in the imaginary standings. I think it would pose some challenge for TT. I think we would maintain our position on the top, but with some good matches thrown in.

    [IMG] Anything else?

[IMG] Matt, wil je met mij mee naar het bal?

Article #5 - Interview with Mehgur and dukeisawesome12 by Daniellll

[IMG] What were your expectations going into this match?

[IMG] [IMG] We were awaiting a pretty painful match, some of us hadn't played ctf for a long time. And as most people know, tt has a good reputation.

[IMG] You guys are looking quite strong now with recent roster additions and activity, any upcoming matches?

[IMG] [IMG] We had multiple matches last weekend, we are becoming more active in general which is nice!

[IMG] If there were to be another tourney in the future, how do you think that would turn out for Anni?

[IMG] [IMG] The tourney itself would be more competitive, there are newer teams, and the team scene changed. The problem is that sometimes lineups are quite luck based, it all depends on the brackets most of the time.

[IMG] Anything else you guys want to point out?

[IMG] [IMG] MC is our favourite game. God bless everyone who plays brawl

Article #6 - Mock vs MI by kevshadowslayer and gamren

On September 17, (2016), an Official Match between Morimur Invictus and Mock It occurred. First, it should be noted that both Mock It and Morimur Invictus are relatively new teams, and many of their players are completely new and have never participated within CTF Teams before. However, that being said, by no means was this a boring match.

The first map played was Dragon Valley and lasted the entire 20 minute duration. Throughout the first third of the map, both teams seem to be adjusting to the match setting and finding their groove and rhythm. Disorganization was very obvious on both sides, however, it did improve though the match. Dragon Valley v1 is a very defense oriented map, and this is the kind of map that is extremely difficult to cap on, and even more so for beginning teams. The entire layout of the map and the closed flagroom emphasizes how a strong defense can be the best offense. Capping solo against a 4-5 man defense is nearly impossible, forcing these blooming teams to coordinate with teammates (which usually takes time and practice to perfect) right off the bat. The general flow of the game during the beginning focused on both teams’ defenses killing the opposing, disorganized offense, and a stalemate ruled throughout the majority of the game. During the beginning of the second half of the match, @dolphincreampuf was the first player to have a long flag steal, managing to pass mid as heavy until getting knocked off the side of the world by @ACE_BLUE . before being pvp’d off the edge of the world (again) by @Dragonese and @Deplicasus . These two clutch recovs allowed Deppresso

subsequent steal to end in the first capture of the game, tilting the score to 1-0, Morimur Invictus lead. However, @sportyman56 had to sub out, leaving MI with only 6 players online. Unfortunately, MI was not able to get a sub on in time, and Mock It was able to sneak through a heavy cap with @dolphincreampuf before Jilin, MI’s sub, was able to be whitelisted. The game ends as a tie, 1-1, with Depresso’s last minute steal

11:50 Coca first long steal hit off edge by ace on the ridge

9:47 Another heavy steal by coca / hit off by dragonese behind flagroom

    7:30 Depresso steals as soldier

    6:38 First cap

    6:00 Sporty subbed out

    4:29 headshot

2:50 mi cap (coca heavy cap)

    2:09 jilin sub

    0:36 Depresso steals

Moving into game two, both teams were showing heavy confidence in their team’s ability, as MI could be seen saying in the chat and in their skype calls “wow this is our longest match yet”. With this newly found confidence, the game excitedly started off with a stalemate between the two teams, the carriers being Depresso and dolphincreampuf. Finally 13 minutes and 29 seconds into the game, @Zefina hit an impressive headshot on the Mock It flagcarrier, resulting in an impressive capture in MI’s favor. Now 1-0, MI regrouped and sent another wave of offense, with Deplicasus stealing. Getting quite far, this looked like a promising capture until a pesky assassin by the name of Spusious (@Kriz) crushed the hopes and dreams of MI by pinglording him close to their spawn. Nothing much occurred at this point until about 10 minutes into the game when @Jilin decided to haul some ass, stealing and capturing as medic, without receiving additional heals from another medic. With yet another capture in their favor (2-0), Mock It started to worry, and many of their members started to fear a potential loss. With that in mind, map 2 ended, leading us into map 3. Sadly a recording was not up in time, and due to some other issues, we were not able to write about map 3, but we can say that map was a MI win 2-1, overall a 5-1 victory in favor of Morimur Invictus. Both teams played very well, and many of us are looking forward to see these new teams in future matches. Best of luck to them!

Article #7 - BK vs TC by gamren

Yet again we have among us another match that was well anticipated by many. The return of BK made many question their skill level, and all were curious to see if BK still had their mojo. Starting off there was a few problems involving the roster of BK and recent switches from teams, but b0s decided to be lenient this time to get the match in way. The match was an 8v8, with TC choosing Blackout for the first map. The game immediately reached a stalemate not even 2 minutes in, allowing BK to claim their first cap upon recent resurrection, and against TC. Using the same offensive push, @Cleef and the rest of the BK offense charged into the TC flagroom, leading to another capture as Cleef ran it down mid. With this newly achieved confidence, BK continued to fearlessly charge in and take yet another capture in a commanding fashion. As the match went on, the importance of archer haunted TC as @StylePoints rained down arrows upon TC virtually uncontested. Meanwhile, @Kr_zy and Cleef stole, leading to yet another standoff, this one lasting for quite some time, leading to yet another BK capture, setting the map to 4-0 with over 17 minutes to go. Sometime during this affair, @kevshadowslayer switched to archer to help sway the odds into TC’s favor. Eventually yet another standoff came into play, but with a twist; at the end of the standoff, TC came out on top, gaining their first capture of the game. Was this the momentum that they needed all way along? Sadly, it was not, as Cleef nailed the final capture for BK, making the first map 5-1 BK.

Hopping into the second map, BK swiftly made the first move and stole very early on in the game, leading to a capture in BK’s favor, and shortly after an additional capture by @Misplacement to set the second map 2-0. Fast forward a bit and we can find ourselves in a stalemate, which was won by The Crusaders, setting the map 2-1. Although well played by TC, BK captured once again, ensuring the victory 3-1 in map two, and overall a 8-2 win.

    A note from gamren -

My apologies for the late edition, we had some problems involving writing and submissions, but they were eventually sorted out, quite last minute sadly. We thank everyone for reading, and our goal is to have each and every one of our editions out on either Thursday or Friday. I would like to announce our special midweek portion by @obikenobi21 involving an analytical overview of TT vs Anni. I can’t explain it further since it will be quite a surprise, but be sure to be on the lookout for our midweek mini segment sometime during the week.

That concludes this week's edition of Match Spotlight Weekly. Thank you for checking in, we will see you next week!
