    Personal Thanks -By gamren

This week has been super eventful, with a power rankings upset, super close matches, and all around an awesome week. I would like to thank all of the teams that are on the consent list, this weekly newsletter would not be possible without your consent to watch, record, and write about your matches. I would also like to thank my MSW staff team, especially @Daniellll for being able to use everything from our submissions document, and format it into the finishing touch that we have been experiencing. The staff team has picked up the work pace insanely this week, and have done such a nice job. Finally, I would like to thank the community for reading our articles and providing support. This weekly article was designed and created for your own personal leisure and enjoyment, and I hope that we can take Match Spotlight Weekly even further in the level of coverage, quality, and involvement with the brawl community soon. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
Gamren Founder and head staffer/coordinator of MSW

Match Of The Week #5 - Radiance Reborn vs The Templars (2-1, 1-0 RR win)- By kevshadowslayer

    Article #2 - Pre-match interview with Snowleak14 by gamren
    [IMG]

[IMG]- First of all, congrats on the amazing success TT has been making so far in matches. You guys simply seem unstoppable. What brought you guys to this level of play?

[IMG]- I guess mainly because we have a lot of synergy between the members. Most people have been playing together for a long time.

[IMG]- Awesome. Currently, everybody crowns you unofficially the top team in CTF. If you guys take down RR, this more or less proves it. How does you and your team feel about this?

[IMG]- Most people are happy about it of course, but it also makes it quite hard to get matches from time to time which is pretty annoying.

[IMG]- Alright. Now, with TT vs RR occurring in a few hours, obviously you guys must be a little hyped. What have you been doing to prepare for this upcoming match?

[IMG]- TT doesn't really practice so our only preparation was the match last weekend against SN.

[IMG]- Nice. Congrats on your win against SN by the way. And with that being said, how do you personally feel about how the RR match will go?

[IMG]- I think if we look at our past results and RR's past results we should win this. RR has improved their roster since then but we also added some people from which at least 1 will play.
Also in official matches this year we only got 1 cap against us so our defense should be able to stop RR's offense

[IMG]- Haha, impressive stats. And with that, any specific members that you guys might be worried about on the RR roster?

[IMG]- We aren't particularly worried about anybody on their roster. Their best player is probably James but I think we can deal with him.

[IMG]- Alright. Thanks for letting me interview you. Good luck to you and your team in the match!

[IMG]- Firstly I'd like to wish you guys good luck for the match later! Are you feeling confident?

[IMG]- uh, we're not that confident but we feel like we at least stand a chance if that makes sense haha

[IMG]- yeah makes perfect sense, after all, you're going up against a really strong team. Do you think you have any advantages over them?

[IMG]- not any that come to mind, honestly

[IMG]- fair enough! Do you think there's anyone on TT to really watch out for in the match?

[IMG]- they're all really good ofc, making them a good team. i know each of us have our own opinions of who will be most problematic. for defensive players, they want to watch out for Mich. for offensive players, we're afraid of Creux.(edited)

[IMG]- Well of course there are a lot of threats on TT to watch out for! We're all of course really looking forward to the match and there's a lot of hype that's been built up, do you think the match will live up to the hype?

[IMG]- i sure hope so! some of our roster has a nerve-racking history of lagging out in matches. although, we do have subs, so that's nice.

[IMG]- I'm sure whether you guys have to bring in subs or not, it'll be a great match! Final question, we're all really looking forward to this match, but are there any other teams you really wanna face after TT?

[IMG]- i agree, it'll be fun! we haven't thought too much about that, but we do want to fight DF again, we thought that was so close and so fun! other than that, we're probably just gonna try to get matches against other teams that will accept.

[IMG]- A rematch with DF sounds really exciting! Thanks for taking the time to talk to us!

    [IMG]- no problem

    Match Of The Week -kevshadowslayer
    [IMG]

On November 5th, (2016), an Official match between The Templars and Radiance Reborn occurred. Arguably the two best teams out of the 11 remaining CTF Teams, this match was expected to be one of the best and closest CTF matches that we’ve seen in a while, with both teams playing strong rosters. Aside from mandatory match rules, no ninja capping and limits to archer, pyro, assassin, medic, mage and heavy were also enforced.
Radiance Reborn’s map pick, Kill Creek v4, started off in TT’s favor, with @Chactation scoring a quick cap a few minutes into the game. TT’s exemplary teamwork and coordination was able to match that of Radiance Reborn, but halfway through the map, @Nazhoo was able to escape TT’s flagroom, making it to the middle river before being repelled by a soldier wall formed by Trum- I mean TT (The Trumps???). Using pvp legends like @Creux , TT was able to get the recov from RR, however, this recovery was short lived. @Nazhoo was able to steal again, with support from @NotNameless, and was able to get RR’s first cap on their map after 14 minutes of back-and-forth gameplay. TT’s roaming-heavy defense often left their pyro, @Uvi , alone in the flagroom, giving soldier legends like Nazhoo easy steal opportunities, even with Uvi’s high skill level. This lack of core defense allowed Nazhoo to escape TT’s flagroom again only minutes later, tipping the score to 2-1 RR. The map then ended in a stalemate, giving the first map to RR, with a score of 2-1.

If you ever fight The Templars, be prepared for their signature map pick, Pagodas. TT is famous for their amazing soldier offense, having players on their team roster like @Optulence , @Chactation , @Kip01 , and @Michawful72. Combined with their seamless teamwork and years of experience with this map, TT is a very formidable enemy. However, RR themselves are famous for their impenetrable wall of soldier defense, consisting of infamous defensive players such as @DoodleBerry7 , @_Arata_Aoi_ , @NotNameless , and @Forums and they were not going to give up any ground to TT. Uvi again was often left alone in the flagroom, with the rest of TT’s defense roaming, allowing Nazhoo again to easily steal the flag and escape. Chactation simultaneously stole from RR’s flagroom, however, James (playing on _Arata_Aoi_) was able to secure the recov, giving Nazhoo a speedy first cap for RR on Pagodas. Chactation was able to steal right after, running all the way back to his spawn before Nazhoo was able to escape again with TT’s flag. Only getting halfway to mid, Nazhoo was killed by a group of TT soldiers + Snowleak14, but back at their spawn, James scored an impressive ninja recov on Chactation, allowing both sides to resume in the 1-0 stalemate. The legend of soldier defense himself, @Krabzz , was then subbed in for TT, giving their defense much needed strength. @lauten scored an outstanding aerial assassination on Chactation during another dual steal, TT fought to the bitter end, but were held off by RR to the last second, ending the match with a score of 1-0 RR and overall 2-0 RR win against TT.

Good game to both teams and it was a very exciting match to spectate!

    Article #4 - Post-match interview with puhdgy by LordCh4os

[IMG]- Ok, firstly congratulations on the win! You guys must be pretty happy, what did it feel like to win?

[IMG]- honestly, this is the match we had the most people talking. we also had tons of nice coordination which we don't always have. it was definitely one of the best matches in my opinion.

[IMG]- For us as well as you, it was really entertaining! Any particular highlights for you guys?

[IMG]- at one point, everyone expected Chac to cap one time, then Nameless and James pulled a nice clutch recov(from what i heard). for me, a lots a blur, i'm just really proud of everyone. the thing about this match, is no one carried, we all did great on what we needed to do and that's how it got done

[IMG]- Yeah, you all did an amazing job! With that said TT is a really strong team as well, so looking back are there any things that you'd have done differently?

[IMG]- well, i've been told our defense was solid as it could be. offense-wise, at the beginning our offense was a bit out of it, we weren't going together some of the time. that happens in most of our matches though, it can time for our offense to do well together.

[IMG]- Well, there's always room for improvement. You said before the match you were quite wary of creux, did you think it was well founded after fighting him?

[IMG]- for me, yeah he was roaming with Matt to kill me, which is a good strategy to do. but with Calig capping, I honestly don't do much haha. he's just so good at what he does that it makes being medic almost irrelevant, but i did feel like i got some good regen heals.
creux is definitely good at pvp though, which yes, he did do a great job at killing me, along with Matt. it just didn't affect the match as much as i thought.

[IMG]- That's surprising. Final question, can we hope to see a rematch in the near future?

[IMG]- well we're hoping for a tournament! we'd be down for a rematch with TT sometime in the future, but probably not that soon just to give everyone a breather. after the match, everyone was kind of just taking it in haha.

[IMG]- Hopefully that tournament will come soon! Congratulations again on the win and thanks for taking the time to talk to us

    [IMG]- no problem

Article #5 -TC vs Anni -By ningeek212

Personally, I was excited to see the outcome of this match. Although both teams aren’t top tier, they are still evenly matched and are still good. Starting off the first map with TC’s blackout, Anni got a very fast cap with @elmocookie in the first minute. Not too much longer she got another cap for anni. After that, the pace slowed down dramatically, with a stalemate occurring. It was between elmo and Mhrrrlin, who were both soldiers. After about 5 minutes of stalemate, anni got a nice pyro recovery with @Codebastian, giving Anni a 3rd cap. Not too much after that, there was another stalemate with @Swit2427 and @Kami_Thresh (mega). This time TC got won the stalemate and got their first cap. With still 15 minutes to go, and the score being 3-1, it could go either way. Anni got another cap after a few attempts. With the map nearing the end with 5 minutes left, each side was going for the flag wave after wave. With only a minute left, @Mhrrrlin stole and got across the map swiftly. She capped with only 7 seconds left, ending the map 4-2 in anni’s favor.

Beginning the next map, which was anni’s rework of airlock, this was going to be a very different style than blackout, since it is much more enclosed. Because of this, both teams were having a hard time stealing the flag and getting out. But eventually elmocookie got a soldier steal and got out of the dome, and capping 8 minutes into the map. After a few more minutes, anni got another good cap. Now, like the previous map, another stalemate occurred between mega and swit. Since mega was a chemist, TC had an easier time recovering, but elmocookie stole the flag shortly after, causing another stalemate. This stalemate however ended in Anni’s favor, giving anni the cap and ending the game in anni’s favor 3-0!

Article #6 -Defy vs TC -By LordCh4os

Although not as hyped up as the TT vs RR match, Defy vs TC was still always going to end up being a good game. Whilst both teams sadly suffered from recent losses, they were still looking strong and ready to demonstrate their ability. In the past Defiance performed strongly vs The Crusaders. However, the inactivity in game of the former meant The Crusaders still had a strong fighting chance at victory. That inactivity also hindered Defiance in the match, meaning for quite a decent amount of time they were down a player.

The first game demonstrated the true power of The Crusaders. The map choice being blackout, a TC map staple, meant that they definitely had the advantage. @kevshadowslayer particularly did a nice job managing to prevent a number of potential Defiance captures. With that said, Defiance's defence drew out the game, particularly with @juli3n's work as pyro. Defiance fought valiantly and managed to stall almost the entirety of the blackout game, but couldn't cap more than once. The Crusaders with their map advantage managed to bring a 5th capture just 35 seconds before the game ended. That brought the final scores for the first map as 5-1 to The Crusaders.

The tables turned during the second game. The Defiance map choice was Opposites Collide V. The lack of @kevshadowslayer using archer definitely allowed Defiance to benefit from their powerful PVPers like @Z_Hobo. The Crusaders put up a strong opposition, taking the first capture of the game, but Defiance soon used their PVP prowess to their advantage, scoring 3 captures themselves in quick succession. The final scores for the second map ended 3-1 to Defiance.

The match reached it's climax during the last round. The agreed map was skyworlds, meaning @kevshadowslayer could utilise his prowess in archer unlike the last map. Both teams chose a more defensive approach, which lead to intense flagroom battles. Both teams fought incredibly well, drawing out the match for over 15 minutes and capping twice each. However, Defiance ultimately got the upper hand and captured in the 16th minute, leading Defiance to victory with a final third map score of 3-2 to Defiance.

Ultimately Defiance claimed a 2-1 map victory, but The Crusaders didn't make it easy. With continued activity and practise the latter could well claim victory next time, especially when the total match captures was one higher for The Crusaders than Defiance. With rumours of a tournament in the near future both teams look set to perform very well. This match was definitely one of the most entertaining, not just for the strategy, but also through the characters and the chat from both teams!

    A side note -by LordCh4os
MSW is not just about writing up reports about matches, it’s about bringing together the team community and making it CTF as enjoyable as possible for everyone. Sadly however, events in the real world can interfere with everyday life, including things we do for fun like CTF. Unfortunately, this week one of these events occurred to @Versions, a member of Unity. Versions was involved in a car accident, and has spent much of the week recovering from his injuries. It’s pretty miraculous that he managed to get through the accident with as few injuries as he sustained. With that said, I would like to take the opportunity I have here to wish @Versions that he gets better really soon, and also to thank him for being not just a great player, but a friend too. I’d also encourage leaving messages wishing him well in response to this thread, as I’m sure since he’s had such a bad week they’d really cheer him up. Thank you all for reading this issue, and for any kind messages you send!

By the way, we will NOT be posting a thread next week covering matches/articles. A majority of us are pretty tired after this week, and instead we will be releasing something else.
