Hotkeys or Scroll?

Hotkey, got my forums account finally

 

Can't played about 11 hours today. Life is complete for the day.

 

This is the setting when I use ninja.

 

It's really personal preference between hotkeying and scrolling, and the best option really depends on a ton of factors. I hotkey because I find it more effective in pinch situations, and it's more accurate than scrolling.

 

I've been trying to get myself to start hot keying for months now! I still cant get myself to consistently do it.

Hotkey for elf. Scroll for steak. Throw my computer for getting comboed.

I was a scroller for a long time <- also was a chemist main at that point xD
I got a gaming mouse and it has 6 buttons which I can customise and I now have 0 ability to scroll which often leads to me dying if I get the flag and it moves the steak. The only time I scroll is to buff and get regen as chemist because I dont have enough buttons for them cx

 

Try learning how to hotkey one key at a time. (this is how I learned to hotkey)
1 - Probably the easiest key to hotkey too. I use my ring finger to hotkey, and it's easy to learn by practicing hotkeying switching to your sword after steaking.
2 - Also pretty easy to learn. Just practice hotkeying to your steak. Work on hotkeying between steak and sword. I use my ring finger for the 2 key as well, and kind of just slide it onto 1, but it depends on your keyboard.
3 - Still pretty easy to learn. Classes that utilize hotkeying consisteny from 1 to 3 include ninja (with flashbombs), assassin (depending on your redstone placement), and medic (with webs). Practicing hotkeying to those items with those classes is a good way to learn how to hotkey between 1, 2, and 3 consistently.
Note - Sometimes it might just be easier to scroll between 1, 2, and 3, but it really is preference
4 - A bit more difficult to learn. Classes that utilize consistent hotkeying from 1 to 4 include pyro, and ninja. This is when I start using my pointer finger to hotkey.
5 - Now we're starting to stretch. The class that I find most helpful for practicing consistent hotkeying from 1-5 is mage.
6 - This requires a bit more reach. Classes recommended to practice would be chemist and elf.
7 - This is where most people end where they can hotkey too (assuming you're not changing any of the number keys to letter keys). The only class that would really use 7 is chemist for it's regen potions.
8, 9 - I would either change these to closer letter keys or just not bother hotkeying to these and just scrolling backwards 1 or 2, unless you want to be able to hotkey immediately to your compass.

Honestly, the best way to learn and develop consistent hotkeying is just through repetition and practice. It's gonna feel super weird at first, and you're gonna play like absolute crap for a while, but I think it's worth learning. Once you have it down, it becomes muscle memory and I find it more accurate than scrolling.

 

1-2-3-4(sometimes-5) I do with hotkeys, then the rest I do with scrolling

All the sweat soup pvpers like me hotkey. I started hotkeying, then the standard was scrolling, then I had to hotkey because it's a vital skill in soup pvp.
