Welcome to the MSW Invitational Tournament, Season 1!

The MSW Invitational is a community tournament which invites teams based off of performance, activity, and additional qualifications that we hold. This tournament is hosted by MSW, with the assistance and guidance of multiple CTF staff members. This tournament shall be held hopefully once every 3-4 months, and caters to the preferences of the teams participating. Our tournament rules and overall decisions is made by a committee made up by these teams reps to ensure and cater for the teams involved. With that said, I am proud to announce to you your 2016 MSW Invitational Season 1 teams!

These teams will be competing for a chance to head to the elimination portion of the tournament, and ultimately a shot to win the complete tournament!

The Brackets​

What's a tournament without the brackets? For this tournament, we have taken the six teams and randomized them into two groups of three teams. Each team will face the other teams in their group once. The top two teams will move onto the elimination stage.
Our randomized group stage can be seen below.

Group A: ADV MI/Emoji Anni Defy
Group B: TNSE BK TC Unity

Once the group stage is completed and standings are in, the group stage will then take place. The group stage goes as following; The number 1 team in A will fight the number two in B, and the number 1 in B will fight the number two in A. Winners move onto the finals, and the loser of the semi-finals will move onto a third place match.



The group stage will occur all of January/following into February, and the elimination portion will occur in the remainder of February, ending before/during March.

Rules/Matches

Rules are as follows;

• Title the match that will count towards the tournament as "MSW Tourney". This has been approved by the committee.
• Threads must be up with map picks and scheduled on the match document a week in advance minimum (can be lenient on this rule as long as the thread isn't posted on a Friday). Re-matches will NOT be allowed unless a certain problem happens and the referee approves/rep committee involved with the MSW Invitational approve.

All matches must be scheduled with map picks a week in advance, and on the match document.
Matches in both the group stage and elimination will be best of 5. The map selection will go as following:

• Map 1 and 2 pick will be choice picks by each team.
  
• Map 3 will be the agreed pick.
  
• Map 4/5 will be a randomized selection from the updated map wave.*

*Note, the random rotation pick will not be from the new rotation.

Inviting New Teams​

Upon reaching the conclusion of the tournament, we will be having a promotional to allow teams that are interested and qualify to attempt to gain and invite to the tournament. The lowest standing teams in each group will have to compete in the promotional if they wish to participate in season two. The two top teams in the promotional will receive invites. All teams that get out of the group stage automatically receive an invitation for Season two.

1 Archer/Mage. Basically, if a team is using an archer, then they cannot use a mage until the archer/mage slot is switched and opened up, and vise versa.
Matches are now possible to start. Put these matches under the tag "MSW Tourney". Matches are not required to start until January, so take your time, and feel free to practice. Keep in mind, the real thing MUST start in January.

Updates:
Opening up two new slots in the group stage, giving us the opportunity to invite TNSE and MI @5ive_Head @Deplicasus
If both accept, we will be giving the group stage an extra month to reach its conclusion.

Removed map bans and changing the 5th map being random vault, to current random rotation.

These matches will start in January/even earlier, and will be self planned by the reps. Matches must be scheduled with choice and third agreed map a week in advance (this includes thread up, MSW Tourney Planners will provide 5th map). Currently I am trying to relay to the committee about the inquiry of being able to label tournament matches with [Tourney] instead of official. If this gets approved, keep in mind that tournament matches still count as officials. Either than that, rules are still being discussed, ask your team's representative/MSW planner for updates if you have questions.

Rules have been finalized, and the match requirements for Tourney matches are now out. As stated earlier, the groups are as followed:

Rule added: 1 mage limit

The committee has approved of a specialized Tournament tag. The tag for tourney matches will be "MSW Tournament, and should be used for tournament matches. These matches are indeed official.

Matches for the tournament can now occur. Keep in mind that I personally don't think it is smart to start up these matches, and feel that teams should get as much practice as possible for these matchups, but it is up to the teams.
