    CTF Map Submission

    MAP IS PRONE TO BE CHANGED AS IT'S A WIP


    Map Name: Foliage Forest

    Style: Forest with two large trees

    Creator(s): blitz_dragon and Gummie_Bear1 (It's our first map so suggestions are much appreciated!)

    Inside blue team's spawn

    The sun rises and the moon sets over the blue team's tree containing the spawn and flag room

    Clearing in the dense forest found in the middle of the map provides a territory often disputed as it facilitates travel due to the lack of trees

    Cobbled walls provide protection from deadly projectiles in the clearing with the red team's tree looming ominously in the distance

    Small hunter's hut lodged in the woods. Wonder what happened to the owner once the conflict started.

    Inside of the red tree also provides a passage protected from outside archers to the flag room with the vines and the ladders helping enemies cushion their fall and allies to climb up to defend

    The flagroom can be accessed by the bottom, back, left, and right. A small pool of water resides here to help against pesky mages and pyro's.

    One of the external bridges leading straight to the flagroom but with no protection on the sides watch out for any knockback!

    First thing red team sees as they leave spawn on the outside of the tree. The blue team's base anchors itself far away and the increasingly denser forest puts a slight halt on any rapid cap.

    Things to Change:

    - Add more hills/make hills larger to provide more cover and to allow regular classes to access the tree tops.
    - Add railings on the sides of the paths leading to the flagroom and make these paths larger to make it less likely to get knocked off

    From pictures:
    Map looks quite flat with a bunch of trees so archer and soldier op.
    The flag will be a problem because you can only climb up the ladders. Would be also very soldier op and a bit like waterfall.

    I understand if the pictures are misleading but the two large trees are formed in a mushroom-ish shape, making it hard for soldiers to scale up it as it's not purely vertical. Furthermore there's four ways to get into the flagroom if you're not a soldier/ninja. 2 of them are stairs coming into the tree from the outside and which use sponges to put people on the stairs, the third way is a winding staircase that leads into the tree, and the fourth way is in the actual tree itself, which is the only place where you use vines/ladders to get up into the flag room. As for the map being flat I've added quite a bit of hills not seen on the picture, and people who aren't soldiers can always take a small detour on the fringes of the map if they do not want to be bothered by trees. Furthermore I truly do not see how archers are a problem as the abundance of trees provide natural cover and even if archers are stationed on the main trees there's still multiple routes that are sheltered from the main tree. I highly recommend you check it out in person!

    Also changed some things to the original post to hopefully give more of an insight to what the map offers to the different classes

    Nice! I can tell you put a lot of effort into building the atmosphere of this map. I would say that there are some big flaws, though. First of all, you should set the spawn to lapislazuli & netherrack. This is because, if the spawn block is blue wool. every blue wool on the map will be read as a spawn block by the game. Make sure that your spawn block isn't used anywhere else in the map where it can be stepped on. Also, the flag in the tree is a cool idea, but gameplay-wise, it is difficult to execute well.

    I only used red and blue wool in the spawn (I used carpets of the same color in other parts of the map but I don't think it counts as wool, seeing how it has a different entity ID). As for the flag room it can be reached by two sponges from ground level, a staircase leading around the tree that can be sprinted up with ease with some practice, and finally you can also go up the tree thru the actual tree itself. If you haven't already I recommend you check it out in-game as my pictures may not have captured all of the important details. :smile:)

    So many trees that Soldier and archer are very powerful. I appreciate the difference in lighting compared to other maps tho.

    The big tree is from paddington right? :3

    Haha actually the trees were just thought up by me
    As for Soldiers being OP I don't really see how. Sure they can run on trees but so what? It won't really help them get across the map faster. Also as for archers they can stand on the small trees but there's so many trees that the enemies can simply use the other trees as cover, not giving the Archers and advantage. :smile:)))

    You're right about the paths leading to the flag and lack of cover. Would adding railings on the side of the paths to prevent getting knocked off help in any way? I will also add larger hills so that any class can get on the trees and have a more equal fight with Soldiers. Also while I do realize Castle was a pretty meh map I personally loved it so much it's probably why I made this map to be similar to it. However if I change these things would the map be better? Thanks for the suggestion! :smile:
