Complete Sidewalk's Map Submission - Skyhold

This confirms my original suspicion. The map is extremely long and narrow. If you get just 3 archers to camp at the beginning of the bridge, it is impossible to get across. They would be getting kills like crazy. Eventually everyone would give up and go to a different CTF server (I mean one inside Brawl) that has a different map. Capping the flag would be impossible, and if it just so happens both teams have the enemy flag on the other base, a recovery is super hard. There are literally rooms where you can get two engineers to block the door and the game is broken. If you had two teams of 25 players playing all on TS with eachother, this map may be possible, but we don't. I hate saying this because I know how it is to make a huge map with high expectations only to have it denied. -1

If you clean up the castle parts and make them nicer, maybe it could be used for war?

 

This map wont be accepted based on it's size alone, let alone the other problems I found with it.
I can see "you" worked really hard on this but it seems that this wasn't even made for CTF. It has so many problems I would spend an hour making a post regarding them all so I wont.

And use previously submitted and accepted maps for an understanding of map size, and the layout of spawn and flagroom.

 

I agree with @cityscaper and @GalaThundR

I think the map is way too large and it isn't even symmetrical. The castle is also very confusing.

Everyone please remain calm about this. Give Sidewalk a chance to explain themself before you all go making accusations. If it is plagarism, then I can understand your distrust, but it doesn't mean they can't still be a part of the community. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone can move forward from it. Also, though, if it wasn't plagarism, then you all have some apologizing to do. Either way, I'd like to hear from Sidewalk himself before making my own opinions.

I honestly fine this so funny. It honestly is the best thing to happen pretty much all day. But you're response about a ****storm for a life is a little much buddy. I mean all you did was take something you liked and tried to get other people to like it. So thanks for the effort that you sort of put in??? But all of the maps on CTF are made by real people and those people put time and effort into making those so people can enjoy them. It's almost like you spat in their face by doing this. Not cool bro, but thanks for the laugh

Hey there!

While I can appreciate the complexity of the build, and how well made it was, I do have a few problems with it.

First off, it feels like you either go one way, a clear 4 block wide passageway. Or you take extra effort and lots of extra time to travel under the bridge and across the water. Forcing players to go across the bridge like this does technically force more pvp, but makes it almost impossible to get there safely and come back with the flag.

You could technically go under the bridge, but it's an extremely long and hard trail to cross, and would frustrate many players with the high chance of dying to just be teleported back to the start.

As well, I believe this was mentioned before, and it goes along with what I said above, but both ways are extremely long. Crossing them and most likely dying would frustrate players to no end. Imagine taking a minute to get to the other side only to be killed and having to do it over again many times.

Again, I do like the map, but the cons slightly outweigh the pros sorry /: <3​

I can only say one thing to this. This is bad, very bad (Well not the builds, but with everything said.) Also I hate how you claimed this to be yours. It's outrageous how you did that. Also Sidewalk I want to see a real map by you to forgive yourself for this monstrosity of a mess, so get working my friend. ;D

Ok guys. So he plagiarized. Does it suck? Yes. Does it make it difficult to trust him? Yes. Does it mean we have to become a pack of snarling dogs ready to leap on anything that doesn't seem right? No. He plagiarized. He stole a map from someone else and tried to pass it off as his own. However, he is still a brawler and what you are all doing right now is out of line. He didn't fess up, so he's lost all respect. I understand that, but that should be where it ends; no further. He was denied on his builder application, he was publicly humiliated, and eventually he will feel ashamed of his actions, but we must not let ourselves become monsters over this. We are Brawl and we've dealt with much, much worse and we will deal with much, much worse again. Throwing extra hate on someone for map stealing just seems wrong and that isn't what a great community like ctf is known for. It's fine if you don't talk to Sidewalk and it's fine if you have your opinions about him, but he's still a person sitting behind a computer screen like you and he doesn't deserve some of the comments you guys are posting. I'm thoroughly disappointed in how a lot of this was handled, with the exception of those that gathered evidence and proposed it in a calm, mature manner and those that sat by, patiently waiting for the entire story before commenting. Ctf is a close-knit community, but that doesn't mean you have to gang up on one person more than they deserve. He got his punishment, so let it be. @Sidewalk if you'd like to have this thread locked, you can request a lock and a moderator+ will do so for you. If this flame continues, though, I will lock it myself.
