Why does CTF need an SMOD?

i mean the whole ctf mods being equal thing would've been useful a while ago

If you look at all the mods, they are great people. But CTF has been lacking a lot for a while. I believe an SMOD would impact them a lot. Yes, different mod's do what an SMOD would typically do. But, I do believe that an SMOD is needed to regroup the mods all together. There are mods for CTF who don't log on CTF for weeks, and they get told nothing about it. No names will be mentioned. An SMOD isn't needed you're right, but in many ways it would help.

 

This has been discussed in a few ragey discord calls. Some people few the committee as "a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off"

Seriously though, just because having an SMOD isn't necessary does not mean we shouldn't have one. Saying an SMOD is unnecessary isn't a valid reason for not having one, as there isn't any real downside to having one. Why do we need one? To get all the mod responsibilities organised, like reffing matches more efficiently, keeping us players updated, and working on problems with the game. The committee could really benefit from having a strong leader. Why should we not get an SMOD? Prosophobia. For those to lazy to google, that is the irrational fear of progress.

Given ctf has survived this long without one, it's certainly not needed. I would agree to some extent with the calls @ACE_BLUE2 has apparently participated in, because a lot of the time I really don't understand what the committee are trying to achieve.

Traditionally when you're trying to add staff to anything, whether it be a Minecraft server or a multi-national organization, you want to explain why you're making a change, not why not. Don't be silly. ^^

An SMOD really doesn't make much of a difference honestly, I really don't understand the hype. It'd be kinda cool though!

 

I think CTF functions well without an smod. Ii'm not against one, however I don't see it as necessary.

Yes, a leader would not guarantee this, but you seem to have missed that I said a strong leader.

Like I said, saying something is unnecessary is not a valid reason to base an argument. (Example, your computer is unnecessary, you can survive fine without it, so why do you have it if it's unnecessary?). And, as I said on a related thread, none of us decide the outcome of this issue. Our reasons for wanting one or not don't matter because it's Canoodle who decides, and no one knows if the selected mod will even want the position (i.e. Nohox). Who's to say if having an SMOD will even provide any significant benefits to the community, but it's also reasonable to conclude it probably won't do any harm. Like the Samsung Galaxy Note, will it work perfectly, or explode?
