Resignation The moment you've all been waiting for

Damnit oracle. ;-; why'd you have to do this to me? Just cuz I resign doesn't mean you resign. We needed you to be that person to stand up. Ryan and I couldn't do it... and there is no way ryan will be able to do it now. Man, I wish I had said things like you did here, but im too nice of a person. And you wanna know the worst part, I don't think this will fix anything. I bet it will be like last time with blue and jayden, where the lower staff try to discuss what's up and the higher ups ignore us and have a conversation about beasteality instead... we are the new blue and jayden, oracle. Don't you forget what you did or what you stood for, because raid didn't deserve you. You were the best thing to happen to it and it isn't your fault that all of this happened. Take that break. Make them see what they lost, and then come back with me bby and we will start all over again. Let them have their victory, because in the end it isn't going to matter to us. In the end, it really is just a video game and we just happened to fall in love with it. Talk to me whenever, oracle. There's so much more I can tell you now that I couldn't before. Thank you for always being there.

I can't say I'm surprised. I knew it was coming, but it doesn't lessen the blow. I finished reading it hours ago, went through fazes of that sick feeling in the bottom of your stomach, bit of crying, especially the tag. To whoever is reading this, you can call me pathetic for crying over a game, except it's not a game I cry for, is a friend.
You were more dedicated to Raid than I can put into words. I won't repeat everything everyone else has said about how good you were. Instead I will say a few words about you. We've shared years of time together on Survival PvP, you were everything I could have asked for in a teammate and a friend. You were always there when I needed a chat, when I had an issue or just something I wanted to discuss. You would always listen to me, and my ideas and opinions, regardless of what you thought of them. You laugh at my jokes, even when they aren't funny, and your the most caring person I have ever met. You made me want to apply for staff so that I could work along side you, and while it hasn't been for too long, the time it has, has been amazing. You are an amazing person and honestly my best friend on MC. I hope I won't loose in touch with you (don't worry, I will fix it), and that I and Melvin can continue the work you worked so hard to put into place.

That wasn't meant as disrespect to 0racle, or ChickenPutty or anyone else here. It's sad 0racle is leaving, and it sounds like there are issues regarding:

1) Money
2) Different priorities/Expectations
3) Communication
4) Time commitments

And guess what? This is almost exactly like an adult relationship there. If someone feels like they are getting ignored, or walked all over, then they have every right to leave. 0racle left, and it hurts, but if he felt it was the right thing to do then it WAS the right thing to do.

I saw a lot of bad blood come out in this thread and I can tell you that burning your bridges publicly can backfire (for everyone involved). I think that, yes, Brawl needs to have a well-communicated plan and set of expectations for Raid's player base and staff. If they don't, then shame on them. If the community doesn't read or ask what those are, then shame on us.

And finally, there needs to be a better monetization strategy for Raid. Server-specific levels (MVP, etc for Raid only) would help to justify improvements to the game mode. Boosts were a great start, and I'm seeing people buy them. I'm also for having cosmetic changes available for cheap (under $10). Money will drive the improvements, which will drive player counts and bring in more money.

Cya, friend. When I first got Jmod you were one of the first staff members I talked to. Since then you invited me to Apex and basically taught me how not to be a dirty nub (sorry, didn't really work ;c). I had a lot of fun moderating beside you, playing beside you and just plain out talking. You did an amazing job on raid despite the struggles and I hope that whoever fills your shoes keeps the ball rolling.

As much as I flamed you for your false bans, you were doing work, but now, you can see why I dislike the way staff is run on this server. Sad to see you go, even if we had our difference I have to give props when deserved and this resignation deserves props.

 

Why did you capitalise the P in Chickenputty, I think this is worthy of a ban.

 

Sad to see another staff member go and in agreement to what you stated I think seeing some new faces in the admin position could help brawl in many ways.

@0racle Even though you didn't tag me after all I've done I'll miss you and I appreciate all the work you put into Raid. Unfortunately I can see it going downhill from here. I might apply. I hope to see you on still Brawl once in awhile and if not, Then take care man, Farewell!

 

Listen 0racle. I thought honestly you were a great smod, don't get me wrong. You did your job and just your job, nothing out of the ordinary and certainly nothing to complain about. Your resignation seemed pretty reasonable but this one bunch of messages really confused me.

We just lost our warz manager and we were in deep need of a manager. Peas stepped back in staff and became probably the most active warz staff member not only on the forums, but teamspeak as well. He also has knowledge of warz, hacks, player and game history - just everything about it. I couldn't think of anyone more fitting for the job. Remember when I was mod? I was about to jump from that to smod within a month if it weren't for my demotion. Just because someone gets promoted fast, does not mean they were undeserving.

Mind you, I understand that you may be jealous which is normal in the situation but remember: peas was promoted specifically to warz manager because we had a lack of one and candidates at that. I wouldn't have chosen anyone else for the job (perhaps sn4x5, but he lacks a lot of experience with being higher up staff so between a former admin and him... well?) but you must take into consideration that these are two different situations. You were even chosen before other people as well and you didn't complain about that, so be grateful!

Being completely honest, I don't think you would've gotten admin despite your dream. Not that you're a bad person, not at all, but because you seemed to dispel all this bottled up frustration and anger into this resignation. You left because you had a lack of dedication (despite you saying you had a lot) and simply, patience. You couldn't take it that your ideas weren't being listened to until a large amount of messages. Well, are you in the workplace right now in real life? That doesn't change. Not only this reason, but the admins all have their own jobs really. There's always been like 5 or so admins at the most, and to be honest with the little player-base brawl has right now it doesn't need to be more.

As for your quote to peas, remember when cuddle left, came back and got smod a few days later? You don't question that because cuddle is a great staff member. Just give peas a chance, and he too could be just as great as cuddle. If you want me to believe you were fit for admin, name-calling and envy won't cut it.

Anyway, I hope you keep in mind what I said. As a player for warz, Peas has been the best manager he can be. He's planning events as we speak and asking the community what they want, which has never happened. His promotion was 100% deserving - why would the staff managers ask him for the job if he wasn't?

I don't think he was lacking dedication. It just gets tiring pouring your thoughts, ideas, and honestly your love into a server just for it to be ignored. That's fine for a couple of months because you really like your server and you're willing to put up with it to help it. But after a half a year, a year, or maybe even more? Then it gets a little ridiculous. oracle's event for raid was planned and built by him. All those bosses and hidden passages and cool effects were because he was told the devs were too busy to do anything fancy for the event and instead of sitting back and giving up, went and learned how to code command blocks so he could do it himself. As for the situation with smods, I won't go into that because it's a touchy topic and there are still a couple of people upset by it that I'd rather not hurt. Peas is a good smod, don't get me wrong, but your idea of giving him a chance could just as easily have been said for Snax or oracle. I think the reason this is all happening is purely because it was decided among the general staff team that snax would've been a good fit for warz smod and we were just waiting for it to happen when peas came along. Snax had been pushing out a lot of content for warz and had put up with a lot of stuff I wouldn't even wish on my enemies, but because peas had at one time been more qualified, he was given the gig. For better or for worse that happened and I can't judge which one would've been better. There was just a difference in opinions between the upper staff and the lower staff and the lack of communication and transparency ruffled a lot of feathers. You can't deny that if you worked your butt off for a server and someone came back from being resigned 3 years ago, just to get the position your were working towards your whole staff career, you wouldn't be upset just the littlest bit. That's kind of how people are feeling right now. Don't get me wrong. I talked it over with Cuddled and Peas and I think we are ok now, and I don't know oracle or snax's stories, but I know how they felt and are feeling right now.

 

I agree with you about feather, although the way she handled it wasn't too great as well. If you really want something, you can't just get frustrated and give up, even if it takes years. That's true dedication and patience - two qualities you need if you want something like that. I do think she would make a great party manager and I think if peas stuck to warz and feather to smod it would be great.

I didn't assume. I based what I said off of what I observed and what you said in your application. If you want people to know "what was actually said in the slack" then post screenies. You seem to forget I was staff at one point, and deserving of smod and I didn't get it. That didn't stop me from trying. Just be better than that, prove you're worth it.

Like I said though, I agree with you about feather, I think you could've completely left yourself out of this equation though because you were already smod... celebrate a brother getting it as well.

Do you know how it feels to be a community member? Staff are listened to far more than community members. I've pushed out bare ideas that never get looked at, why? Because the devs and admins have lives. They are almost all in their 20s, put yourself in their shoes. When I was staff I knew that I had a huge advantage over the players when it came to pushing out content and ideas. Still, the higher ups have lives too, and of course they can't listen to every single idea.

Also like I said, I agree with the fact that you should have been the smod, but you resigned way too early. You could've worked something out with cuddle and peas. Peas could've just been warz manager if you convinced them. If what 0racle said was true about peas "not agreeing", then I'm sure he would gladly give out the position to someone who supposedly deserves it (which you did).

As for snax, yes he is a great mod. Thinking this through, the manager system is really stupid. Both peas and snax are equally capable for the position, despite the experience difference. But because each server "must have 1 manager", snax didn't make the cut even though he plans events, makes up a lot of the sticky threads and is pretty active.
