Very simple really. It's a question based around the perception of the community. There could be multiple members of staff in this particular question that do a lot of work behind the scenes but totally lack community presence. This question is designed to target that community presence and interaction. If you don't have one, then it's pretty obvious you're not going to score that many points. Why does this matter? well a staff member's job isn't specialised (which is another topic of conversation for another day) meaning they have to be able to do everything. They can't just be working silently behind the scenes, part of their job description is to regularly interact with the community. If they're not doing that very well, then clearly they're not doing that part of their job very well. Of course some people are better at interaction than others, but we should see a fairly even distribution of votes for each staff member if that is the case, since they'd all be interacting and different people have difference preferences as to whom they'd contact first. Surprise surprise, that isn't actually happening with the results at the moment.

Do you have a certain day that you'll be releasing the results? Also, we will be able to see the answers to every question?

No set time as of yet for the results. The survey is still open at the moment as I want to try and get as many people to do it as I possibly can. Once I close it, I'll transfer a lot of the raw figures onto an excel document and make some graphs (pie charts are terrible, as every academic ever has said). I'll use qualitative responses to back up the tone of the results, and hopefully put it all into a post (yes it'll probably end up being a long one). Timeframe, probably a few days. I've got the wiki to worry about, articles for Match spotlight weekly on top of my usual day and I really want to get this done properly. It'll be posted on a thread for everyone, and I'll also send the results to the committee too.

My bad. I thought you were going for a popularity contest among mods, but clearly you were not targeting that. In addition, part of a mod's responsibilities are banning players, which you mention nothing about.

Perhaps you should make that question more specific, like "Which CTF mod is most active in-game?" It'll probably still be a popularity contest, though.

Overall, I disagree with the idea that all mods need to be doing all aspects of the role equally well. Some people are better at banning players; some are better at community interaction; some are better at producing ideas. People have strengths and weaknesses, and to expect that all mods be equally good at everything is unrealistic. In addition, moderators are real people with real lives and responsibilities. Just because they don't spend as much time on the server as other mods doesn't mean they're any less of a moderator.

I could do, but honestly where would that lead. You don't really see mods doing it most of the time. Often it's just a player getting banned and nothing more is said on the issue. Sometimes the mod will appear out of vanish, but more often than not that isn't the case. I don't think it would be an accurate question for me to put out because the only people that fully know what they're doing are the mods themselves. It's a bit different with my question because everyone's going to base it on what they have seen, it doesn't matter if the mod thinks they're being super active because the players might still not see it that way. Even if the players don't see who banned the hacker, the hacker still got banned, and so there's no problem. There's also the issue with the autoban system which can make it even more difficult to tell if the mods are banning those that deserve it or not, but I think you get the idea.

Would definitely end up being that again to a certain extent. On top of that we're not going directly to the problem, because most active doesn't mean most useful

You know what? So do I. I think it's stupid that the mods should be expected to do all of those at once. It makes no sense, they have lives and at the same time have to deal with hackers, produce ideas, interact with the community, collect the suggestions of others, moderate the forums and more. It's ridiculous to think that the mods can handle doing all of that at the same time. Right now the job description says this is what they should be doing, and so I'm looking at it from that perspective because that's how brawl sees it. My opinion is that they should not be doing all this at once, and honestly I think there should be mods that focus specifically on different areas. That is of course a suggestion for another day I think.

Thank you to everyone for participating! I'll be posting the results asap :grinning:
