Is Elf really worth keeping in CTF

@Miskey what class isn't strong when you master it?

Sick and tired of that talking point. "But Elf is good if you learn how to use it CORRECTLY!!!" that's beside the point. Completely beside the point. The point being that it's ridiculous to expect anyone to dedicate a lot of their time to actually do something with a class they spent money/credits on. Right now the class blows if you're not ultra experienced with it or if you're not a PvP master.

That is why, and I think I speak for some people when I say this, did not play a lot of Elf, stopped playing Elf, and will continue to not play Elf. I do not log into mcctf.com to have a bad time playing a class that's more difficult to work than a Chinese finger trap. I do not log into mcctf.com to practice class x because I'm a "competitive minecraft player" and I really want to beat TC or whoever. I log into mcctf.com, every sixteen days, because I have garbage internet that takes several hours to download LoL updates and I want to relieve some stress pwning noobs in ctf. That is what ctf should be about. It should be the thing I can sit down and play for a few hours and feel good about. Not the thing that makes me question my purpose in life as I chuck my keyboard out the window.

What do I want?

I want a class that is nice, simple, easy to use, and above all - fun. I do not want to have to spend hours upon hours learning the "proper way" to use the earth element, or the exact angle at which one must shoot the (downright pathetic) wind element to knock an enemy 5 blocks into the air. I do not want to do that. That is not fun. That is annoying, stupid, and completely avoidable by giving Elf a buff.

What kind of buff? Oh I don't know. You've heard the ideas already. Make the water element actually useful, reverse that stupid wind element nerf (no, Elves could not and cannot "fly halfway across the map"), increase the damage on the pure element, and make Elf less squishy as my very good friend Tom suggested above ^^ Mind you, it'd be nice if you could give the class a role instead of "that thing that floats around the map doing absolutely nothing". Ranged support anyone?

Finally, yes I do understand you have a busy life and are not a coder. I understand. I am not mad at you. I am not mad at @Krazygam. I'm not even mad at Nohox. However, I simply do not understand this reasoning that a class is "fine" or "strong" if a few people have managed to use it in a way where it is "fine" let alone "strong". I do not understand that.

If a large number of people are saying that your class isn't very good, as it isn't, then it needs a buff or two. As someone who has experienced great frustration trying to learn how to play this awful class I can tell you, almost no one has or will have the patience to discover how "strong" Elf really is. I mean if your selling point for a class is "its good if you play it for 1,000 hours!" that's exactly how you don't sell a class.

While it is true that elf can be a highly effective class when used correctly, the problem (as stated above) lies in players not wanting to/being able to master the class efficiently. I've seen people use elf in matches brilliantly, not so much in casual, but more frequently in matches. On the flip side I'm sure everyone has seen some random player try to use elf, and get annhilated. (This happens to me when I use elf) while I believe elf should not be removed, and that it's a rather useful piece to the game, it's not the most enticing for newer players or those who don't want to spend time to learn the class.

 

I agree. It's as irrelevant as Chemist was after it's introduction as nobody knew how to use it but I believe soon people will learn.

 

I totally was never slowed, trolled, killed by my own reflected arrow or pissed off by an elf before...

Their is no reason to remove it, each class has its perks and if you can use them wisely and effectively, the possibilities are endless! !!!

 

I bet most of those times when you were totally not slowed, trolled, killed by your own reflected arrow or pissed off, I was the one responsible.

 

I know not everyone can play elf or just spend the time to master it but why do you want to remove it? If its so weak and bad and you dont play it what harm does it do to you? I understand people not liking it but why do you want to remove it?

 

If you remove elf, you make the $3.50 I spent on it completely wasted.

 

Why would anyone remove this? It could be fixed, maybe buffed, but I doubt this should be removed.

 

Think about it this way. If you have an open air map with a flag room that's easily escapable, Elf is an extremely powerful class. Physically, it can maneuver out of the recovery teams reach almost instantly (if you know how to use it properly.) Elf can be a challenging class to recover from when the user is experienced.
