I Fell Off

Hi old friends I started playing CTF again a few days ago if you haven't been on / if you care!!1!!1! So I guess I'm "back" even though I never really left, I just stopped playing consistently for a while because CTF got boring and I wanted to play other games. Before a few days ago I probably played around or less than 30 hours for the entire year, but I've played like 15 hours in the last 3 days lol. (this isn't a "back" post btw but it kind of is pls don't move it)

If you didn't know me already, back on MCPvP a lot of people knew me because I was top 10 on the leaderboard for caps for a while (from the beginning until I left for 4 months at the end of 2013), even random people that I've never seen. Random people would say in the chat "that Gengar_Sleep guy is on the leaderboard wow so cool he's really good!", and I could make people really mad in game (because I ended the games too fast? idk). One random guy even pm'd me saying I was their inspiration (probably the weirdest serious pm I've ever gotten).

In the three days I've played, however, I've noticed that some of the newer players actually don't know me. Obviously that should happen since I don't play but it just felt really weird lol. Someone tried telling me how to cap even though I've capped around 3500 times (before stats (idk probably around 250) + mcpvp stats (~3000) + brawl stats (~250)). They said I should play medic to cap because "a pyro mage duo is unstoppable" like huh?? xD I was also asked if I was someone's alt because I was ninja capping like lol I really fell off.

I've been kind of trying to learn how to be as good as I was again, but I always feel like I succ because I always hold myself to the standard of what I used to be able to do and what other good players can do, and fail (usually at capping). Some of my friends before would say "I capped on two dwarves, an assassin, and a ninja by myself!!" and I'd be like "wow impressive I can do that too I'll try!" I have this notepad file from a long time ago that I wrote about this "clutch non ghost ninja capture" I had with 40 seconds left against a dwarf and one of the best recoverers. Really the case has always been that I feel like I should be able to do cool plays like those because I did it before and I end up failing and dying like 20 times lol. I guess another issue is that my playstyle is really based on me not needing teammates so much and you can't really play like that anymore. But maybe I need to change my username back to Gengar_Sleep to "regain my powers"

I was thinking about joining a team again too since CTF is easier and more fun with friends (and TTT will never come back unless I start it probably lol rip), but I don't know which team because I don't really have friends that still play CTF and those that do play are pretty spread out on teams lol. Maybe if anyone wants to pick me, a somewhat washed offensive player, up then I might apply if I don't end up joining a team I want to join (if ur actually interested just pm me xd) or I could just merc for a team or something.

Anyways I was recording myself playing earlier because I was bored and I haven't uploaded CTF to my channel in a long time. It's a "continuation" of a "series" I tried to do 4 years ago on how I play on each map, except this video is more focused on memeing than actually "showing how I play" It's one of my funnier videos lol, watch the whole thing even though it's kind of long .

TBH I feel like a lot of people probably secretly used extra mouse buttons for 1 and 4 (ninja 414ing and pyro instakill) back then lol, idk if he had macros and I don't think he did but I wouldn't really be surprised if he did. I knew a few people that used side mouse buttons though. Now you can just change your controls or rearrange your inv so that you don't even need to use mouse buttons lol.
