yes i would because being competent at detecting hackers should be a part of your staff application not sure later test that comes in waves that does create resentment (from the resignations, its pretty obvious many staff dislike roke)

whatever though youre stubborn and im not going to argue

why would you say 'I'm not gonna argue' after you post a counter-argument
whenever someone does that it just means they're trying to get the last word

"being competent at detecting hackers should be part of the job description"
yeah sure it helps lol, but if you want to be promoted the hack test is sort of a way to make sure you know what you're doing. there's nothing negative about it. from your logic every staff member should pass the test easily, but that obviously isn't the case

you said "all staff members should know how to deal with hackers already", if that were the case every staff member would pass the hack test, negating any "resentment"

if there was no hack test those people that would've failed it would end up false banning a ton of people. but sure if you're not going to argue I don't see a point in you responding to this ./shrug

You can't retry the same test because you'd know all the answers...

Any JMods who don't pass the hack test have an opportunity to take the next hack test. These are supposed to be every 2 months, but there was a large delay this time. We now have a team of 4 staff dedicated to making the hack test, so that shouldn't happen again.

We need the hack test so we don't promote JMods who aren't good at detecting hacks, simple as that. Being able to detect hacked clients is not required whatsoever to become a JMod (as they're not supposed to deal with hackers without the assistance from a mod, unless they're very blatant), so we need to know which JMods would be competent mods and which JMods wouldn't be.

it would make way more sense to go by experience instead of a standardized test that you have to pass or wait months for the next one

clearly this is creating resentment in the staff team, and jmodd should be promoted when they show a clear understanding of their job, something that cant really be shown by a test. at the very least, at least make 2 forms of the test to retake it a jmod fails the first one

its obvious that the staff team is trying to create some rigid, structured system but dont realize that they are a TEAM. not a company, but a team, and teams work best if the staff members actually work together and create a good environment that actually encourages people. this is BLATANTLY not the case which you can see in any resignation in the past 3 months, and it makes absolutely no sense to me how nobody has realized that this structured system has just made the staff team work together worse and worse

I'd agree but I think it has been this way for a number of years.

How sad is it that a Mod will leave because of a test?

I think the Mod program needs an overhaul to be more of a mentoring program.

If we were able to make two tests in the timer we currently need for one, we could also do them twice as often...

jmods are not able to ban people, they don't deal with hackers. so no, I really don't think they would be experienced with how the plugins work or who to ban for what etc. you haven't been staff before so I really don't think you should be voicing your opinion on a topic like this

if someone fails the hack test, they don't know what they're doing in terms of banning people. therefore, they shouldn't be promoted to mod. if there was no hack test, that same person would be promoted without knowing anything about who to ban, causing more false ones. why is that so hard to understand

though I agree the hack test should occur more often
