Idea Medic Heal Unblocking

    This is a pretty small issue and it is fine if it cannot be fixed. It's so minor most people have not even noticed it. So today I was pretty close to capturing the flag and I saw a medic coming to heal me. While f5ing, I saw a pretty obvious assassin coming behind me so I blocked. While I was blocking, the medic healed me, thus restoring my items and forcing me to temporarily unblock. Out of sheer chance and timing, the lucky assassin assassinated me and recovered the flag. I am sure I did not let go of my left click or switch slots, and this has also happened a few times before, except this time I was about to cap and so this triggered me enough to make a thread about it.

    My idea on how to fix this is just restore the things that get depleted like steak and health potions while leaving the things that do not change like the swords alone. Armor and swords are unbreakable in CTF anyway so there's no point in needing to restore them. If medic's heals do not work in that type of fashion and cannot be fixed, then that is fine. This only happens very rarely but it's still an issue that I'm sure can be fixed pretty easily.

    If this has ever happened to you before, feel free to describe because when it does happen, it can be pretty hilarious

    When you are soldier and a medic gives you the full restore, you will bounce up a bit if you're looking at a wall/floor. This has actually killed me before (headshot). +1

    All the swords (excluding elf) has an unbreaking tag, so medic can simply refresh everything except the sword because it's not needed.

    (edit: lol literally just read the second part where you mentioned this, nevermind this)

    This happens all the time, you're definitely not alone on this. It's so frustrating, maybe something could be done about it?

    I've been the medic and the capper, or would be capper. It was so awkward to heal someone and have them die immediately to an assassin. We lost the game on that recov xd

    Thanks for this thread, hopefully they will look into this! It's especially annoying with soldier when you keep bouncing up every 10 seconds :/

    I don't cap often, and I've never been killed by the forced unblock, although the possibility has crossed my mind. I've always wondered why this (feature, bug? Idk which) was in the game.

    Because the unbreaking tag didn't exist back when medic refreshing was implemented, so it replaced your damaged sword with a new one. Same with armor, but now it's not needed because of the tags.

    This also effects bows, forcing you to redraw your bow. Has f**ked me a couple times as pyro or elf but not as big of an issue as that above.

    A bit late on this, but +1 for sure. I've noticed it with my bow as archer as Nucleon mentioned. As an archer it's much less of an issue, if any issue at all. But I've certainly noticed that code's behavior for sure. Enough that when I randomly redraw my bow without an arrow being shot, I always know that it means a friendly medic is nearby.

    Almost 100% sure this is intended counterplay to stalemates.

    Yeah, I agree with Miskey here. If there were some way to disable blocking with a spell/ability for a second or so, and if assassin did increased damage (not instakill) to people with that effect on them, that might work. But with the current assassin and stalemates existing in the game, it's fairly necessary to keep the unblock on heal.
