My 5th Year Anniversary <3

Hey everybody!

I know you're all expecting a nice long retelling of my CTF journey (I said I was going to write one up a few months ago for this occasion) but it's still a rough draft and I'm unhappy with parts of it. I would have gotten to finish it if I hadn't been so stressed in the past few weeks, but unfortunately that happened. Here's why.

Okay so, I've had this computer (laptop) for nearly four years now, it'll be four on December 26th. It's an HP envy m7-j020dx (here's all of the specs if you're curious), and it was great the first couple of years I had it. Then last year it started to decline, and I asked my parents if they would be able to help me get a desktop. I seriously thought they were going to say yes but less than a month before Christmas they decided they didn't want to.

I won't go fully into why they decided this way because 1) it would just make you all a bit outraged (most likely) and 2) it's not worth fully telling the general public xD

I've been waiting for Christmas of this year to roll around and I finally got my mom on my side as far as getting a new computer. The past few weeks have been spent trying to find an opportunity for my mom to talk to my dad about it (which is tricky for more reasons I just don't feel like listing here,) and I have been very stressed about it because my laptop is now actively dying.

I get about 20-30 FPS on CTF/Minecraft, so it's discouraging to try to play for long periods of time. My eyes have been terrible since I was an infant and I have -8 and -7 vision in them with a stigmatism and floaters, so once a game's FPS goes down to something so low on such a consistent level I can actually get headaches (rarely, but it's a thing). It's also just irritating in general.

But yeah, the past couple of weeks have been more focused on making my parents happy so I would be more likely to be able to get my new computer. It's not that I don't already make them happy, I just added a bunch of extra help on top of what I already do on a daily basis. xD

Now you might be wondering, "Winter, why don't you get a job? Why don't you go off to college somewhere so you can lead your own life blah blah blah?" Well, you see, my parents are kind of overprotective of me and I am working on getting my driver's permit (didn't want one until late last year tbh), and I don't really know what I will do in college (I do plan on going sometime, not never) or in life in general. For certain reasons I've not really been able to get a job (not that they wouldn't hire me, just personal reasons) and I also haven't wanted to with my current life situation. At this point I'm keeping myself alert to possibilities but I'm not in a big rush to hurry on to college and stuff.

BACK to the subject of getting a new computer now - Last night my mom got to talk to my dad finally (if I had done it, it would have most definitely been a no) and this year I'm allowed to get it. Yes, I'm 19 and I have my own rights. Yes, this is a little bit messed up. Okay, a lot messed up. But anyway, I'm getting my new computer and it's going to be amazing. I'll be able to run SHADERS at 60+ FPS and regular Minecraft at some crazy number. I'll be able to stream, which has been one of my dreams for a few years now since I don't have to edit (which kept me from uploading until I found my two wonderful editors) and it would just be fun to do in general. I'll also be able to play other games at a consistent FPS, which will be a breath of fresh air for me since I've never had an actual graphics card (everytime I see "20fps" in Overwatch I want to take the intel integrated graphics out of my current laptop and throw the chip out the window). Oh yeah, I'll also be able to use an actual recording software instead of Windows Game DVR.

So where's your CTF story, Winter?

I plan on posting it on Christmas hopefully. I'm going to work on it over the next few weeks and polish it, and since you guys are having to wait, I'm also going to maybe include something else a bit special. I won't spoil it, but it won't be a disappointment. Trust me on this one.

I want to thank you all (CTF and Brawl community) for making these five years so magical and wonderful for me. All of you haters, you have only made it even better because there was some drama in it and that adds interest for other people. ;P

Thank you to Delta Force for being my rock during all of these years (are we really going on four years now?? holy crap) and putting up with all of my crap during times like these. I love you guys and gals. <33333

I am going to build it myself (well, with a friend's help, since I've never done it) with specific parts that fit my needs. Don't worry, I'm not buying anything pre-built! =D
