I think it helps low mobility classes like chemist or medic have one extra capping route. In all honesty, the only thing i can see passing through bars would be a chemist, medic, and aefrogdog. Sure it's annoying to deal with but if you allow a medic or chemist to get far enough to the bars, and don't have a ninja there to recover, it's your fault. If you want to count it as a glitch, thats fine. But consider that when you're a class with no vertical mobility, and you get hit off the side wall, or get cut off from the sponge, passing through should be a viable option. I mean a decent archer will hit someone who takes that sponge every time, making it very difficult to capture like as chemist or medic, or as aefrogdog, or even as necro or whatever you're into.

I don't really see the bar pass as much of a problem based on the fact they have to drop the flag. All you have to do is have a ninja ready and waiting to grab it while invisible. That or, if there are enough players in the match, have someone who's dedicated to preventing it. Blackout is such a small map that having someone who watches the bars isn't completely out of the question. The player wouldn't necessarily need to be at the bars guarding until someone stole their flag. They could just rotate over from the flag whenever someone steals and gets out.

As for bar passes, I've never been much of a fan of them, and I think the part of the map was designed with the intentions of being a choke point for classes other than soldier and elf, and that any other classes should run to the sponge (which wasn't even part of original blackout).
