Why is Beaver Creek still in the rotation

    Ok time for some actual feedback. I hate maps with a ring around then in general (opposites collide being an exception). The small bowl maps as I refer to them are essentially archer rape. Maps like valley of ruin, and some others I can't think of (because they're half decent maps that are semi playable lol) are fine because the actual play field either has appropriate object placement to make it less open, or is big enough that it's very difficult to headshot high traffic areas in general.

    This ****ing map on the other hand could make optifine be considered an unfair advantage. I started playing on an alt for credits, got bored of heavy and switched archer on this map. Spoiler I'm trash but somehow pulled a 12 ks or something half decent.

    Seriously one of the ****tiest maps. Who the ****, thought a big limp cock that medusa turned to cobblestone would be an amazing objective and aesthetic edition? It seriously is something a 5 year ol- ahem I would do.

    Pipe down big man, I'm talking about defenders. What do they get for killing people for getting the flag? No assist system means they are lucky to get the 2 credits LOL. Can't you see the flaws in the game, it so biased towards attackers and the defenders struggle to get the flag carrier kill anyway.
    Also it does violate the EULA, trust me. You can buy every class which does in fact give you an in game advantage, as you have more options and you could argue they counter the normal classes.
    Also those are my stats on the new server, not from the old one because ive played waay longer on the older server.

    You get 20 for killing the flag carrier and 10 for recovery, or vice versa I can' t remember. Either way it's decently easy to get many of those a game on defense.

    It’s much easier to get recoveries than captures. Just play as medic or heavy in the flagroom for a while. It won’t take that long

    It doesn't violate the EULA. Stop claiming that it does

    The EULA prevents servers from selling for money any item that gives you a gameplay advantage over other players. The credits system is completely separate from that as credits have no monetary value, meaning that CTF is not 'pay2win' (you actually have to play the objective to win, what an idea) which the EULA was put in place to prevent -- aside from forcing ppl to play Minecraft Realms.

    it does LOL having the other classes does give you a game play advantage which you can buy with REAL money on their store.

    There's actually a process taken to get accurate ratings on rotation maps for map waves.

    1. Reset all map votes every few months by doing a fresh /commit on all maps, making the votes more reflective of the current in-game votes instead of several-year-old votes.

    2. Gather votes from the forum community on all current and new maps being tested at the time.

    3. Weigh forum and in-game votes 50/50, cut the bottom old maps and implement the top new maps.


    Forum votes are good because regulars get a pretty loud say of what's in rotation... But forum votes are also the reason some of the less functional reworked maps made it in due to nostalgia...

    Beaver Creek has very favorable in-game ratings because new players can do well with free classes on it. Make sure you always vote /n if you want it removed. Regs get lazy with this.

    This is why basing things solely off community opinion is a flawed process. CTF staff should be able to decide if a map is bad or not regardless of community opinion, and decide whether it should be kept in the rotation or not.

    We shouldn't just ignore community opinion though: if the community want a bad map in the rotation due to nostalgia, we should rework the map and turn it into a good map, but keep everything that makes the map nostalgic.

    I.e:
    • The map is good and the community likes it - keep it in the rotation.
    • The map is bad but the community likes it - rework the map with community feedback.
    • The map is bad and the community dislikes it - remove the map from the rotation.

    There have been too many reworks for me to count that have attempted to do this for Beaver Creek, and yet the only version of Beaver Creek in rotation has only added ladders to the sides of the buildings. I would drop the map out of rotation since players that don't know what good map design is (randies that don't have forum accounts) always upvote the instant they see this map.

    The issue with the current map voting is that there are away more players than forum users. I think we as the forum users can agree that Beaver Creek should be removed, due to a bad combination of gameplay and looks. Most players are new and just like it for notgoodreasons without having seen the rest of the maps which are usually better than BC1. Additionally Blackout has a perfect nostalgia. Blackout may have the same look issue, but gameplay wise you can always find cover behind the small huts or going around a corner to prevent headshots.

    My suggestion would be to increase the value of forum user votes/opinion, since they are mostly veterans and can tell the difference between a good map/a bad map. A 75/25 should be fair.

    Check out the forum votes on this thread.

    When it was ship battle, it was like 10% of people wanting to keep it in rotation. Here we still have 35% people wanting to keep Beaver Creek, which is still a good chunk of people.

    Might be best to do what SoCool suggested and just administratively remove it. It can be readded if there is enough demand for it imo.

    I believe ranks still give you classes and I've heard things about buying classes being advertised through a link in the actual game, that doesn't show up in the store due to Mojang people being too lazy to check in the game.
