The Beauty of CTF

Hey guys,

It's been a very long time since I've posted on the forums, and probably even longer since I was truly active on CTF. If you remember me, you know that I'm one of the older CTFers, one who left soon after we made the transition to Brawl.

I've always felt that people are very critical of CTF, myself included. But in the last few weeks I've been playing again, and seeing how different things are these days, I just wanted to remind everyone just how incredible this game is.

Since it's creation (and even in the couple of years since I left), CTF has undergone an amazing transformation. We started off playing on a handful terrible maps with tiny flag rooms in towers (@Castle) and now we have a wealth of diversity - even all of the remake maps have greatly improved on their originals. We started off with 5 horribly unbalanced classes, and today there are so many that it's genuinely hard to get bored.

The one true constant over all this time has been the community - our beautiful combination of veteran oldies, excited noobs, and everyone in between who all love this game. I formed a CTF team (The Flying Walruses) and became a Mod+ way back when purely because from my first experience with this community, I was in love with it and wanted to be involved as much as I could. Without this wonderful group of dedicated players, our game wouldn't be nearly as fun.

Are there still things in CTF that could be improved? Of course. There always will be. But that also makes this game great - because we all care enough to improve it. So next time you get annoyed because of some imbalance, rest assured that many others feel the exact same way. But also, just take a moment to reflect and realize just how amazing CTF really is. You won't find a game like this anywhere else.
