As i said in my last thread, i dont really bother posting a thread about a new class, just hoping to post ideas that might encourage ctf players to change mage a bit.

As you know, when a buffed ninja targets a mage, we all know who wins. I just hope this thread might give the mage a bit of survivability in that situation.

    Ideas:
    - The damage spell is removed
    - It is replaced with a wooden sword [knockback 1]
    - The cooldown of the other spells [except flame spell] is reduced by 2 seconds
    - The cooldown of the flame spell is reduced by 1 second
    - The cooldown of the heal spell is increased by 2 seconds and the duration is decreased by 1 second
    - The mage has natural regeneration which regenerates at about the same rate as medic
    - The mage now has a leather helmet, dyed purple, with protection 1.

The mage often relies on the damage spell a little too often [which we call 'damage spell spam']. It gets a little too overpowered towards heavies and a few other classes. The addition of the wooden sword is to give the mage a little chance of survival when the other spells are on cooldown. Overall the removal of the damage spell makes the class a little underpowered but with the addition of a few buffs and 1 nerf, it can be as fair as elf. The purpose of the knockback on the sword is to give the mage some time to fire a spell.
Obviously there are a few aspects i have not thought about which might make mage a little overpowered of underpowered in a few areas, i do hope you will all post comments about it below to help me improve this thread

    Hotbar:
    Slot 1- Wooden sword
    Slot 2- Flame spell
    Slot 3- Lightning spell
    Slot 4- Freeze spell
    Slot 5- Heal spell
    Slot 6- Nothing
    Slot 7- Nothing
    Slot 8- Compass
    Slot 9- Class Selector

Mage relies on damage spell to actually deal damage, you remove this to solely knock others away while there already is a spell that works for this: lightning.
Any decent ninja should be able to be a counter to mage hence the class itself is ridiculously overpowered when played by some, if you'd remove every counter against it mage is basically invulnerable with its infinite healthpool.

I think there's literally 0 chance a mage would do anything against any class if you'd swap the damage spell for a knockback wooden sword, get a buffed heavy near a mage and you should be able to 2/3 shot them.

It’s a good idea, however, I don’t see how mage should really get any changes, just like any other class it takes awhile to master, and I’ve seen a few people play mage pretty well so I don’t think it needs any changes. I can see perhaps giving them a sword to just knock people back slightly because I think mage is more kind of like an archer- it’s used more of a class to hit people from a distance. Your idea is good but I don’t think it’s necessary.

Not a fan of the natural regeneration since the Mage has a spell literally meant for healing

As @Unifier stated above, replacing the damage spell with a wooden sword would make mage pretty useless in most sitiuations. Mage isn't a close combat class, and even with the sword it wouldn't really help countering the ninjas either. You'd get 3 shotted anyways.

I like a lot about it except for the natural regeneration and the leather helmet

Mage is my main and I definitely think a wooden sword would help, but not as a replacement for the damage spell. The class is good as it is, even with the ninjas being able to 3 hit us, we can do the same to them at range. The fact is, some classes are just stronger against other classes, like rock paper scissors, and I think it is good that way. It leaves some room for strategy when your playing.

I don’t think the sword is necessary. Especially since normally people just use lightning spell to knockback players, rather than using a sword. I think mage is pretty good as it is, even if I hate versing it, it’s a pretty well balanced class.
