Only 0.8% of everyone here is under 13 which means that barely any of the popular demographic of Minecraft (kids) even plays CTF.

To be fair, it's pretty hard for an entry level player to have a lot of success against the levels of people who have played for years and with the "fun entry classes" super nerfed.

That, and Minecraft in general isn't pulling in people from 12-15 like it used to. That age group rides with trending games.

The ones under 12 that are showing up tend to prefer creative, vanilla survival, and gamemodes for shorter attention spans. 20 mins feels like an eternity these days.

I meant oldest! Minecraft has a young demographic.

EDIT: actually Xelasi said something smarter right above this post

I was 9 or 10 when I played CTF for the first time. I'm 14 now. I'm an official member of the CTF Teenager Club

It's bittersweet looking at the demographics considering most of the 18-20 year olds now (including myself) are probably people who were 13-15 or so when they first joined at the height of MCPVP. On one hand, you look at this and say "wow we have a group that's extremely loyal to this crazy game even after all these years", but on the other hand this data screams stagnation. You only get about >40 players on at any given time, and most of which are veterans who are far better than your average player. While that certainly makes for a more challenging and competitive game for the older players, newer players get dominated without "randy servers" (for lack of a better word) to play and get better on. It's like teaching your kid to swim by throwing them into a giant lake because all the kiddy pools dried up. I've been on hiatus for a while now so I'd assume this isn't anything new at this point.

Even as a veteran, I mostly come on every now and then to see who's still around (or because my friend (irl) who first showed me ctf wants to play at 2 in the morning lmao) because half the time there isn't enough players for me to fully enjoy the game in itself. The nostalgia within all the calls, matches and shenanigans in the ~1300 hours I played was a piece of my time in high school so I guess that's why I haven't forgotten.
