Idea Pyro cooldown

    Literally made this in like 5 minutes because i have to do mathematics textbook work or i get detention.

    Pyro is a bit overpowered. This is mostly due to the fact that the frenzy pretty much provides an insta-kill if you hit someone after activating frenzy on them unless they are medic. Medic is meant to be a counter to pyro, however both classes have similar armor, weapon damage and steak amount.
    I would like to change pyro a bit by giving it's frenzy a cooldown based on time but also giving it 1 extra steak.
    So the changes i am suggesting be made to pyro are:
    - 10 seconds cooldown [can be changed]
    - 1 extra steak

    Please try to criticize me as much as possible so i can make this thread as good as it can be.

    No, Pyro is not overpowered and it is not an install. Frenzy provides 7.5 hearts of true damage (I think), but it's definitely not an insta kill unless you already have less than that amount of health. Medics counter Pyro very easily and any medic should be able to kill a pyro fairly easily or atleast tank it for a decent amount of time. Pyro is generally a very easy class to kill and most would classify it as underpowered in most situations. Therefore, no it does not need a nerf.

    I do not agree with you here. Pyro is the like inner core defence, it's meant to kill a lot.
    No, It does not insta-kill you at all. It's easy to dodge it or atleast slow him down so he's not able to reach you. All you have to do is to knock the pyro away from you, so that he won't catch up and frenzy you later. This was btw, impossible to do before because of the insta-kill.
    Pyro is also easily killed by ninjas, or any class that deals damage due to low armor points. Frenzy is basically saving the pyro from dying to them, so adding a cooldown would just make it harder for them to survive.
    And as dave already stated, medics can kill it easily, or atleast tank it for a while, giving the rest of the offence a chance to get inside.

    I'll agree with you though, pyro can be a bit overpowered on defence if there is a medic there healing and restoring him all the time, however, you can just send a couple of people on them to either distract or kill them.
    Pyro has already been nerfed, when the insta-kill got removed, and nerfing it again seems pretty strange as of right now atleast, as, imo, it is a pretty weak class.
    And I am pretty sure most people don't see a problem with the class right now.

    I suggest tthat we just keep pyro the way it is right now, and don't add any changes to it.

    This is an unnecessary change to a class that isn't overpowered. The fix is also not very effective (an extra doesn't counterbalance the cooldown given pyro's armour is flimsy already).

    I wouldn't consider pyro as overpowered, considering the class has a lot of counters and the damage isn't particularly high. Medic is a counter to pyro as it can tank out its damage and extinguish fire on allies, not because it would win in a 1v1 duel (although it probably still could). I like the idea of giving an easier way to get frenzy when on recovery, but this isn't necessary after the armour has been buffed.

    i agree that we should not nerf, even applying a change like your suggestion is interesting but doesnt change much and cuts a bit off the skill cap for a class that already inherently requires skill (even with ur change) aka it's not noob friendly unlike old pyro... (quick hotkeying & pvp skills are required)

    regardless, i still beg to differ that pyro is an OP class - kinda surprised to see the general opinion here on the contrary. Sure medic and other quick/semi-ranged classes can be a counter (but then those classes have their own counter, etc), but a good pyro is the core and carry of a defense (while an archer isn't 'core' imo, it can certainly carry too, and medic is the core for offense), and alone it can easily take on 2v1s from any class/player of the same or lesser skill whether it's 2 soldiers, heavies, ninjas, etc... no other class can do the same so quickly close combat with its incredibly high and pure DPS imo, unless it gets distracted.

    Yes everyone is right. I just realised that pyro is the core to spawnkilling noobs, sorry for making this thread because without pyro i cannot get the 100ks that i desire.
