Idea Where did the 1.0 server go?

No-one ever played it so it was removed.

We do not want to attract players to Legacy War. It's a very outdated gamemode and War 2.0 has considerably more potential for growth.

The vast majority of complaints about 2.0 are from people who don't even play Brawl anymore.

Legacy War never, ever had players as soon as we added War 2.0. Almost everyone either preferred War 2.0, or got very salty and quit Brawl in protest.

Legacy War can never be updated again due to how fragile the code is. Whenever we tried to update Legacy War, it the code would break. If Legacy War was brought back it would never be able to grow again. Bringing back Legacy War is the equivalent of us giving up hopes of War ever being revived.

Why do you think WarZ is "AIDS" and a "complete disgrace"? You seem to be very passionate about it - surely you are able to give us a better insight than comparing it to an STD?

In order to "pay him" we need to:

• Finish the changes we are making to the backend, to make Brawl easier to run (probably a 6 month job for all gamemodes)
• Increase our revenue by monetising all gamemodes better (again, probably a 6 month job)
• Decide what we're actually going to do with this dev to make all this effort worthwhile
• In the meantime, continue to add new features to our existing gamemodes to help mitigate the declining playercounts

We're not idiots. If getting a developer was as easy as you are making it out to be, we would have done it. It's like saying "JUST GET MORE PLAYERS!!! IT'S EASY!!!". No, it isn't.

 

We made it very clear to every community member that to join Legacy War, you join War 2.0 then type /legacy. We made it difficult to discover for new players because we did not want to attract new players to Legacy War. You need to realise how little potential Legacy War had. War 2.0 was a risk which we simply had to take because Legacy War would have never been revived.

I absolutely agree War 2.0 could have been executed better. It's a complex gamemode; we needed a developer working on War 2.0 for at least 5-6 months after it was released to fix issues and sort out people's complaints. It would have also been nice to give SMod+ the ability to change gun values so they could balance guns themselves. However, even though it was arguably poorly executed, War 2.0 still has considerably more potential for growth than Legacy War. That is why Legacy War will never be added back, unless we decide to give up on War's revival (which I think we all hope will never happen).

If most of Brawl's current gamemodes die, our best bet would to start with a clean state. Remove all it's dead gamemodes and make a new gamemode, working very closely with any remaining community members to make it something everyone would want to enjoy. Try and build a new server from the ground up again, eventually maybe re-adding revamped versions of old gamemodes. I'll admit, it's unlikely anyone would try to do this, but it could be anyone who does this. It doesn't have to be the existing staff team (and it's something I'd attempt if I had the time).
