    Hey CTFers,
    This thread is being made to update you guys and keep you in the loop and talk about some of the things we’ve been brainstorming. So let’s get into it.

    Christmas Mini Map Wave [​IMG]
    > The greatest time of year is sneaking up on us yet again, and we want to see more maps for this festive part of the year! Holiday reskins are always a nice addition, but we would love to see more original maps submitted this time around to spice things up a bit. The deadline for submitting your maps is November 25th, so if you plan to submit a map, make sure to have everything set to go with a thread for your map by then. Shoutout to all the map makers in this community over the years, you guys have helped keep this game fun and interesting!

    Map Wave XV [​IMG]
    > Not only will we be looking out for holiday maps, but we are hoping we can have a new map wave ready in a few months. We thought to give you guys an early notice so you have time to create/finish maps. Original maps are always fantastic to see, but of course reworks are also being looked at. So, there is no official deadline at the moment, but we would love to have this map wave out in a few months.
    *Sidenote - if anyone is interested in trying to make a map and doesn’t understand worldedit or how the config setup works, please don’t be shy to ask me(pudgy, but I’m sure other mods would not mind helping at all if they know about it)! I’d love to help with that kind of thing and it isn’t as hard as it seems, so don’t shy away from building a map if you feel it’d be confusing. We are here to help you guys :smile:

    Community Testing - Chemist [​IMG]
    > We have been wanting to bring chemist back into the game and make it more appealing to play. This is all thanks to the efficient coder that has been making things happen since he got promoted, thank you @redslime, very cool! We will have testing on Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th on all the regular servers and we hope you'll on take some time and hop on!
    Changes include:
    - 5 health III pots swapped out for 10 health II pots
    - Chemist gets permanent resistance I
    - The amount of mana used per health pot is halved to 12.5% to account for the doubling of the number of pots and the halving of the HP gained per pot

    We are coming to the end of this thread, but before that happens we would like to mention that your feedback from this thread has not been ignored, we hear you guys and appreciate all the opinions! Currently, we are very interested in engineer, dwarf, and necro, so we will be looking a lot at ideas for those specific classes. However, if you have an idea it isn’t too late to make a thread on it!

    ayyy map wave hype and def looking forward to more of these, don't see chemi as a main priority esp since most all of those that currently play it/against it (which is still a decent amt) don't really have a big problem with it, but i guess buffing stuff starts somewhere ;D

    Chemist update is unnecessary and would be too "tanky". This change would contributes to bring the classes more in an unbalanced position instead of a balanced one because of no agile class to counter chemist effectively. I suggest to change ninja at first place because of the dominance in a game(for example: flashbombs, agility with flag and agility in general) and then try to balance or nerf/buff other classes. *cough* pyro *cough*

    So i played a decent amount with the chemist change, and i have to say i surprisingly really really like it. It feels actually spot on with balance (relative to how it was just before).
    i feel like it lets me take nearly an additional hit (i think closer to half a hit) from a ninja, idk exactly tho (depends on crits for sure too) @hayns hehe my main opponent (was testing chemi in 1v1s and when capping, also went ninja to fight against them a bit too)

    when i read the proposal, i made some faulty assumptions-
    - Thought resistance was gonna make it hella OP, i honestly had no idea with that... (@THX testing!!)
    - And i didnt think about how the underlying, indirect buffs thatd be inherently included with changing the pots to level II and halving the mana use:
    i would health pot before when i was down 4-5 hearts when mid-combat against multiple enemies just in the heat of the moment and to lean on the safer side, now, i can use a pot for a more explicit amt of health i want back (sometimes dont need to double pot) so im saving a bit more health and mana ....to be fair tho, the more skilled u are, the more of an inherent buff this would be since this assumes u will not misspot the x2 as many health pots that u now need to use nearly x2 as often (the more u pot, the less ur hitting an enemy too), and that u can manage (decide+hotkey) and time ur pots so it's not less effective/efficient to gain back the same health u wouldve b4

    so overall, good stuff


    This honestly helps a good, fair amt with lessening ninja's dominance in games
    As for pyro, that class is OP and balanced enough xd if anything make it more bulky and have it deal less damage so it's more noob friendly

    No, it does not helps. Buffing chemist for preventing or reducing the ninja dominance is like putting a sticking plaster on a stab wound. It will just help for the first few minutes. All the other classes will be still dominated by ninja, what in some cases not bad at all is but it will not resolve the problem. Just look it from another perspective and you will realize how overpowered it is at all.

    Pyros in casual games, are overpowered, yes. Pyros in matches on the other hand are weak. Most offenses in matches are played by 1-2 soldiers, 1 medic, 0-2 heavy(depents on which map) and maybe a ninja/chemist. You only need someone backstabing or just hitting the pyro and it fells instantly on 0 or 1 steaks left befor killing the enemy and there is the problem. A buffed heavy makes more damage with crits on a pyro as a pyro on a burning heavy. You're constantly on steaking and hoping of the frenzy to charge befor getting killed. I dont want a buff for pyro. I want a radical change for it. Make it bulkier but increase the difficulty to handle it or make a completely refresh. There is a good reason why almost all pyro mains are quitting or already gone.

    I completely agree. Either buff pyro or nerf ninja. Quick anecdote: Recent ppm it was more efficient to run an extra ninja than a pyro. Pyro really isn't that fun to play, as you'll see from people debating who gets stuck with the chore of playing the class. I mean the point of the game is to be fun right?? Broken or not if something's not fun to play then you probably have a problem on your hands, js
