It would be a nice, small implement to see how many blocks away you were headshotted on the kill feed. "You were sniped by Anonymous (35 blocks)"

On the other player's feed that made the headshot, it would show as "You sniped Anonymous (35 blocks)".

Not necessary but just something that came into mind.

I think this can be nice to add but I rather spend code time for gameplay, such as a rework or new kit

What @CoasterHamza said. With that said, sounds like a nice thing to implement

Sometimes archers hide and snipe. It can get annoying, for me at least. This could give out the archer's hiding place. So it might be a bit of a nerf, to be honest.

I've been asking for this for a while, and though it's a great thing, our budget and dev time would be better put to use for things that are actually broken, ahem chemist.

A "just barely" +1 from me on this, because it has potential to be useful enough to possibly justify the effort of implementing it.

It could seem like a nerf, but distance without direction only offers that one small detail (and a 3-dimensional distance at that... 40 blocks away could be a few blocks around but many blocks above or below for example), and it would be good to know if you were sniped deliberately (within let's say a 60-80 block distance) or blindly/dumb luck (150+ block distance). Then again, although the calculation seems simple, processing it and displaying it each and every time a snipe happens is probably tougher to do, and it may lead to other classes wanting the same from their long distance shot skills like elves and pyros. I will say that this could be especially funny for those Hail Mary blind snipes where the archer is already involved in a different unrelated battle when "DING!" a snipe pops up in the text list: "You sniped Dequoy from 216 blocks". It would be amazing as an archer to see how far those last ditch effort flag carrier kill snipes actually landed from, gauging by nothing but the compass, shot height angle, and the predicted path being run by the enemy flag carrier (I've personally managed to have enough Hail Mary flag carrier kill shots to wish I knew the distance that the shots are reaching).

This could also help new players gauge the minimum snipe distance as archer a bit faster, because if they know they need at least 35 blocks, and they manage a snipe from 50 blocks, they could see that they didn't need to be QUITE that far away to achieve a snipe kill shot.

Kinda funny to think about blind shot snipes instantly killing just because of distance alone. If only there were a reliable and efficient way for archers to designate their snipe targets in order to have it register as a snipe kill (would be a nerf, but it would add to the skill requirement level and it would do away with some of the spawn sniping and teleporter exit sniping that archers like myself occasionally enjoy doing when engineers are secretly spotted and their teleporter exits are exploited).

I just might consider posting another archer rework suggestion one of these days. My first archer rework suggestion awhile back was very complicated and involved, but maybe a simpler idea could be easily implemented and be a bit more reasonable...but likely not soon. I'd need to put a lot of thought into it to offer a change to something that's only slightly broken, if at all (specifically the complete lack of archer surviveability without resorting to "a skillful version of bowspam" as nobody else would call it, ha).

This idea has been brought up multiple times in ctf meetings and is 100% being considered^^.

In fact, it is part of the next update. Guess it's a good time to lock this now
