Back when BK was a thing...

Hello to all you fabulous people! This is a surprise thread coming from another CTF randee who has (mostly) moved on from this game, but please read through the entire post. :]]]

Now, back when BK 1.0 (or The Black Knights) was a thing, there was a player known as CHICKENS9000 on that roster. If you remember Chickens, you remember that he was undoubtedly one of the best medics this game has ever seen, reaching the number one spot on medic kills with over 25K (over double that of second place), and was one of the best solo medic cappers, second to ReubenS. He loved the game and the community around it, back when BK was a thing.



To those who did not interact with or remember with him, Chickens is a funny, witty, and sarcastic asshole, and he's one of my best friends. Not only as just the comedian, Chickens in an ideal medic, very supportive of his team mates along with keeping a level head in almost any situation. He loves watching tv shows that aren't anime (and won't watch the animes I recommend :[[ ), gaming on PC and XBOX (you can check out a couple of his videos here), and playing gigantic Minecraft modpacks with over 100 mods.

I've been friends with him for over 3 years now, and I can't thank him enough for the sheer positive impact he's had on my life. I even met him IRL last summer and found out he's **** at throwing a football.

During his time on CTF, he remained one of BK's strongest offensive players, but after BK disbanded and the switch from MCPVP to Brawl, he fell out of touch with the CTF community and the game as a whole. He now goes by the IGN KinkyDinoSaur (changed from CHICKENSPOOO), and you might have seen him on recently along with either me, @Pegatree , and @OmegaOak.

However, what all of you have not seen is the situation he is in now.



Six years ago, Ben's father died of a heart attack leaving Ben with a single mother struggling to make ends meet for mortgage and Ben's education. Last summer, his mom, Debra, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, right after Ben's first year of college. Last Saturday (March 23), Debra passed away.

Currently, Chickens/Ben is a 19 year old college student with dead parents and little to no financial support to help him pay off the debts he is now stuck with. He is running out of both money and options. He doesn't deserve the hand he was dealt, but sometimes life just isn't fair.



Look, I know sob stories aren't pretty. I know most you might find on the internet are fake. I know how annoying then can be. I've had my fair share of posts like these thrown my way too, and most of the time I've done little to nothing to support them. And I know how selfish it is of me to resign from moderator, disappear for a couple months, and crawl out of the shadows asking for help.

So as hypocritical as this is for me to ask:

Please donate or spread the link to your friends and family.

Even if it's pennies that you found off the street, any and all help will assist Ben as he struggles to pay for food and utilities. He's looking into renting out other sections of the house to make more money, and he's doing everything he can to stay afloat, but he needs help.

I know it seems odd to come to a Minecraft server to ask for help, but me and Ben both have roots on CTF, as well as many others. This is the game that helped us break out of our comfort zones, make new friends, explore new interests, and have fun playing a silly block game with people from around the world. I know I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for CTF and the community it harbors. And yes, I know it's common to trash the community, calling it toxic or dead (I do it too), but I know that good can come out of this community. I've seen it. Out of all the things in my life, the CTF community has been one of the most constant and consistent, and it's become something I know I can rely on, even as stubborn as many of us are.

So please, as Ben's friend, as a member of the CTF community, and as myself, I beg you guys, if you have the time or money to spare, please donate. And if you are unable to donate, please spread the link. More information on the specific of his financial situation can be found there as well.

Hey thanks for the suggestion Wulfi. I know that this forums isn't the most popular by far, but I wanted to reach out to the CTF community about the situation he's facing right now seeing as we were both active members.

I'm definitely spreading this link beyond this forums to get as much attention as I can, so I'll pass along the reddit suggestion to him.
