Idea Season 1 Map Idea

    For Season 1, the way maps are being picked for the initial part of the season seems to be the same as the way it was done in officials except from a map pool. Whilst this works, I feel like it will be quite stale and could lead to the season being pretty predictable as teams will just pick the maps that they are best on and will most likely agree on a map such as Blackout or Pagodas III meaning gameplay becomes repetitive and tedious.

    Instead I propose that the way maps are selected for the initial part of the season (the 8 week long league) works like this.
    1st Map Pool: A classic map that has been played in officials and the comp scene for a while. Examples: Pagodas III, Airlock I, Bazaar
    2nd Map Pool: A throwback map or a map that has been played a little bit in competitive but is relatively unknown. Examples: Opposites Collide V, Slate I, Aquafus V
    3rd Map Pool: Any good 5 cap map. Examples: Blackout, Waitomo Caves, Adrenaline

    For the 1st and 2nd map, the maps should be adjusted so that they are 3 caps and 20 minutes long if they are not already e.g Bazaar would need to be changed.
    For the 3rd map, the map should be adjusted so that they are 5 caps and 20 minutes long if they are not already e.g Blackout would need to be changed.

    For each week of the 8 weeks, a map from each segment of the pool should be picked and then all matches that week will have to play those 3 maps. I think this would make for more interesting and intense competitive gameplay as teams would need to practise different maps rather than just relying on the maps they are best at.

    I completely agree, there would only be so many maps teams would agree on, and apart from that they will choose the same thing every week. I liked how the Draft Team Tourney forced a first map pick. It forced teams to actually practice different maps.

    While teams might complain that they won't have time to practice a map, I feel like it would be way too stale to practice and play the same map over and over again, and it doesn't really show how good you are as a team overall, just how good you are on that one map.
    Some sort of randomization needs to be added, and not just let teams pick whatever map they like, at least before the playoffs.

    My only concern would be the manner by which they would edit the maps. Obviously everybody on an official team is going to know their maps well enough to adapt to cap or time changes, but I think each modified version should receive its own map ID (A copy) to prevent confusion in casual; People might see it as inconsiderate and sudden when it could otherwise be introduced long before next Season and given more time to normalize. Other than that, this looks great & I hope it gets seriously considered.

    The only modifications would be either number of caps or time of the map. Sure they could get their own map ID for this or just a mod does it manually doesn't really matter.

    correct, it's been a mindset within this community that map adaptability should not be a trait teams strive for, which is the saddest part since maps are the only thing that add some "variety" to this game, yet people will bash whatever isn't blackout & proceed to calling the game stale and boring xaxaaxxa ****ing muppets stfu
