    intro
people will always complain about classes but they will never complain about maps' flaws when it comes to gameplay. not only that, but the importance of maps when it comes to attracting newer players is also disregarded. i think creating a balance framework for maps will only benefit ctf. thx.

    suggestion
each map should have its own stats which will be forwarded to map creators to hotfix certain issues that are usually overseen etc
    1. avg gametime (short times indicate that a map is fairly easy to cap on)
    2. avg stalemate time (longer time shows that a map has an unhealthy stalemate spot)
    3. avg steal attempts (shows how encouraging it is to play offense on said map)
    4. avg caps (shows how offensive or defensive a map is)
    5. avg flag cap/steal ratio (shows how effortless or not traversing the map as a flag carrier is)
    6. avg % of the team playing each class (a higher %archer indicates that there's something wrong with the map : ))) )
    7. even class specific stats from kd stats to heals to frenzies etc
i guess stats should be tracked for different size ranges too

anyway, after some time of data gathering, the community should decide which maps they consider healthy, and have these maps' stats become the "balance threshold" so map creators can fix their maps according to these stats

    conclusion

having a rigid map balance framework will help balancing classes too. it's much harder trying to balance two variables at the same time, think of it as a double pendulum.

P.S the map voting system is also quite flawed at the moment, a more detailed short gui where you could vote for aesthetics/gameplay/fun would be much more helpful too.

tl;dr stat tracking for each map individually should be considered essential at this point. a solid balance framework & thresholds for either classes or maps will make balancing of the other much easier.

100% second this, this would be so damn helpful for anyone even thinking of making/reworking a map.

at this point we just need a map council that goes through all the maps and sends feedback to the CTF committee
