CTF Spring Update 2021

    Hey CTFers - It hasn't been long since our winter update (which you can view HERE), but we've been hard at work with some new and exciting changes to improve your experience on CTF!

    New Classes:
    After years of pushing rework after rework we've decided to get a bit more agressive with game balance. Starting today six new classes will be playable ingame.
    Mechanic:
    Armor
    • Helm: Iron [Protection II]
    • Chest: Leather (Black)
    • Legs: Leather (Black)
    • Boots: Iron [Protection II]
    Items/Abilities
    Structure-based abilities.

    • Mechanic Pickaxe
      • Diamond Pickaxe [Sharpness I]
    • Steak (3)
    • Turret
      • Dispenser
      • [Structure] Left click the turret to mount it (teammates). After mounting, you can left click to fire an arrow where you're looking.
    • Dispenser
      • End Portal Frame
      • [Structure] Right click with an item to add it to the dispenser if that item grants status effects (teammates). The dispenser then applies that effect to teammates.
      • Items: Medic heal sword, Chemist potions, Ninja invis, Assassin sugar, Mage heal
    • Cannon
      • Cauldron
      • [Structure] Left click to mount the cannon. Then left click again to have it shoot you where you're looking.
    Wraith:
    Armor
    • Helm: Leather (Black)
    • Chest: Chainmail
    • Legs: Chainmail
    • Boots: Leather (Black)
    Items/Abilities
    • Wraith Sword
      • Iron Sword
    • Steak (3)
    • Mark
      • Blaze Rod
      • Right click to fire a projectile. If it hits an enemy, it "marks" them, allowing the Wraith to teleport back for a short while by sneaking.
    • Shotgun
      • Hopper
      • Right click to spray your opponent with a bunch of low-velocity snowballs. The more that hit, the more damage you deal.
    Paladin:
    Armor
    • Chest: Diamond [Protection I]
    • Legs: Iron [Fire Protection II]
    • Boots: Diamond [Feather Falling 4]
    Items/Abilities
    Auras have a 5 block radius.

    • Paladin Sword
      • Iron Sword [Knockback I]
      • Heals Paladin by 1/4th heart per hit
    • Steak (2)
    • Paladin Shield
      • Iron Door [Durability III]
      • Gives Paladin a golden helmet. Saves Paladin from Archer snipes and prevents Paladin from taking knockback. Greatly reduces damage from arrows.
    • Aura of Resistance
      • Record 6
      • Gives Resistance I to allies
    • Aura of Leaping
      • Green Record
      • Gives Jump Boost II to allies
    • Aura of Slowness
      • Record 11
      • Gives Slowness I to enemies
    • Aura of Stability
      • Record 4
      • Prevents allies from taking knockback
    • Aura of Regeneration
      • Gold Record
      • Gives Regeneration II to allies
    Monke:
    Armor
    • Helm: Gold
    • Chest: Chainmail
    • Legs: Chainmail
    • Boots: Gold
    Items/Abilities
    • Tesla Cannon
      • Shears
      • Right clicking toggles the Tesla Cannon on/off. Nearby enemies that the Monke is looking at (4 blocks, cone of 40 deg) will take 3/4th of a heart of damage every 300 ms. While the Tesla Cannon is active, 4 ammo will be depleted every 300 ms. Tesla Cannon goes inactive if there is insufficient ammunition.
    • Steak (3)
    • Jump Thingy
      • Slime Ball
      • Click to propel the Monke in the direction its looking. When it lands, enemies in a 3 block radius will take 1 heart of damage and be propelled away from the landing site.
    • Ammo
      • Glowstone Dust
      • Ammunition for Tesla Cannon. While the Tesla Cannon is not active, 4 ammo will be regained every 0.5s.
    Shade:
    Armor
    • Helm: Leather (Black)
    • Chest: Leather (Black)
    • Legs: Leather (Black)
    • Boots: Leather (Black)
    Items/Abilities
    • Shade Sword
      • Wood Sword [Sharpness II]
    • Steak (2)
    • Shade Dagger
      • Stone Sword [Sharpness I]
      • Attacking an enemy "stabs" them, similar to Scout's Death Tag. The Shade loses the dagger, regaining it when the stab effect is over. While stabbed, 1/2 of the damage the Shade deals and 1/4 of the damage from any other source are accumulated, and when the stab effect concludes (7s), the enemy takes all of that accumulated damage.
    • Shade Orb
      • Fermented Spider Eye
      • Throws an orb. Where it lands, enemies in a 5 block radius are blinded for 3s. 5s cooldown.
    • Phase
      • Ender Pearl
      • The Shade teleports forward 7 blocks, through walls. Will not teleport if the Shade would get stuck inside a wall. 5s cooldown.
    • Shade Cloak
      • Eye of Ender
      • Turns the Shade invisible to enemies for 5s. They may not cloak with the flag, nor hold it while cloaked. 5s cooldown after invisibility wears off.
    • Warp to Stab Site
      • Skull
      • Only appears after stabbing an enemy. While the enemy is stabbed, clicking the skull takes the Shade back to where they stabbed the enemy (single-use).
    Weirdo:
    • I don't even know what this one is, DeZilla just told me it's going to replace Heavy as the default class.
    Existing Class Changes:
    Just some normal run of the mill updates to some of our weaker classes.
    Archer:
    • Archer bow is now punch 4 instead of punch 1
    • Archer was subjected to a bit too much targeting according to some advanced statisatics we had, this change will allow it to have more staying power.
    Elf:
    • Earth spell has been added back
    • Elf was too weak on defense. We decided to talk with one of our more meta-breaking competitive players WeeJake and decided that this was the best possible change
    New Maps:
    We feel as though our map acception/testing process has gotten a bit too professional, so we decided to add some maps to rotation on our own accord.

    • New maps have been added to rotation

    Flag Changes:
    Our current flag setup with banners has been causing a lot of issues with hitboxes and other miscellaneous things, so we've decided to push an update that will fix all of those issues.

    • Banners on Capture the Flag have been replaced by sheep
    Competitive Changes:
    We wanted to make a few changes to make competitive feel like it was more in the hands of the players. Recently we've been having the staff decide almost everything for the scene and we want the players to have more power.
    • PPM Hosts now have a role ingame that gives them similar powers to JMods in terms of setting up server/events
    • Both match servers have been removed, meaning CTF 3 will now be used for competitive games (This is to make room for our upcoming HG rework <---- don't put this on the thread)
