CTF isn't evolving

    Wow, I put up this post a month ago and didn't look at it until today. I'm really glad that this post got the attention I think it needed. Zboy took the words right out of my mouth.

    I logged onto Brawl CTF again today just to see if anything had changed and I was really happy to see the Spring Update. I don't know if it is here to stay or not, but I, and many other players, really enjoyed experimenting with the new kits and the reworks to elf. If it isn't here to stay, my biggest hopes for reworks were for keeping Elf's earth element and for mechanic to be added to the game. The introduction of several new kits was (and is) a much needed change and the game has been a lot more enjoyable since I last logged on.

    I think there should be more discussion on growing the player base of CTF. People were mentioning earlier that minecraft has moved in another direction, with players being more interested in games like skywars and bedwars, but honestly, I think there is still a lot of room for Brawl CTF to grow and come back into popularity. The recent change was a really great start, and I think if we keep changing the game, or adding ways for players to level up or upgrade in some aspect of the game, we could keep consistently high numbers. Thanks again.

    My biggest hope is that a future update that is permanent in nature would see Elf get it's earth element back, mechanic be added as a kit, dwarf get a complete rework, and more kits being added. I was genuinely excited for the Spring update until I realized it wasn't here to stay.

    Hello!! I did not read through every reply so I apologize if I'm repeating anything. I agree with your post I think CTF is kind of stagnated but I also agree with PVP games in general aren't what they use to be... I just wanted to leave my opinion as somebody who played CTF mostly in the MCPVP days. When I found MCPVP's CTF server in 2012 I instantly fell in love and played all the time. I looked in the old stats I had 15 days of playtime which I know isn't a crazy number compared to some but its still a lot. I bought all the classes and had a blast the thing I enjoyed the most was the crazy PVP aspect nothing was really thought out whether is was OP or fair. Just do whatever you had to to capture or defend. I can understand the nerfs added later but it seemed to kill the game a lot at least to me. Even with those changes it was still fun and I played a lot. Around the time MCPVP was closing and Brawl was taking over I was losing interest in minecraft and not playing as much focusing on other games and IRL stuff... But I never really quit I just only joined every few months and never really tried very hard. Recently for the first time in a while I have been playing more frequently and actually testing out the re designed classes (I knew they changed but as an old player I didn't like the change so I just ignored them) After really trying them I like the new necro I think it is a big improvement almost OP in some cases but its a lot of fun to play. I don't really like the new engineer however (specifically the lack of cake and teleporters) but I know engineer was not working very well at the end of its old form; It was one of the last of the old classes trying to hold out with the new less crazy formula (if that makes sense). My biggest complaint with CTF now other than the lack of players is its to competitive and by that I mean the people regularly on are very good and understand the gameplay and know the maps extremely well. That isn't a bad thing but as somebody who always just played for fun and never was into the competitive teams side much its not as fun... I definitely am not saying good players or teams are bad for the server but I think its less fun for someone new. When the server is full on the weekends and the good experienced players are on its almost hard to capture if your new or just not as good. You see the same names capturing and recovering every time. I know there is nothing anyone can really do about this with the small player base we have. That is just the biggest thing I've noticed since playing again as a very average player. When i first started playing CTF capturing was pretty easy you saw a lot of different people capturing and it didn't seem so serious. I know there were very serious teams and players back then to but it seemed like they usually played on (correct me if I'm wrong) the B1-2 ctf server and the casuals were on the A1-3 servers. I'm not really trying to say anything bad about anyone or any team I'm just pointing out what I've noticed as an old player returning :smile: Happy Capturing everyone

    I just believe brawl needs to listen to the players more and not rely on doing everything there way. I personally think this is a cause for alot losing interest because based on the latest changes they havent been that huge, nor barely any to none from forums ideas get added.

    I hate saying it but the server almost seems uncared for to a certain extent. You're absolutely right in this comment and the lack of recognition over these types of discussions is worrying. Brawl CTF has clearly become almost a hangout server with continuous decline in player retention/attraction. Its sad.

    not just lack of players imo, its just the same old thing really and its getting old for a lot. On the competitive side its mainly just the same team who always wins. Casual is just a lounge area for people now a days and ppms get canceled a lot due to the lack of players doing them. Dont get me wrong there have been some ppms that are very popular and will get 40 signups but other then that ppms have died a lot to where sometimes its 10v10s or less.
    Now staffing and ideas wise. i rarely see any ideas from forums get posted and not just from ctf. alot of great ideas come to other servers on brawl and they don't get looked at. one thing I find confusing is brawl is still having a strict system even from warning for senseless small rule breaks that literally have no meaning.
    Some classes if u practice at them you can be unstoppable at the gameplay. along with buffed heavies, buffed pyros, mages, engineers, and other classes that don't have the protection but with regen or strength they can be op(others included)
    Ctf's player count has gone down tremendously almost to the point where there will be around 4 to no players on a daily average.

    10v10s or less used to be the norm for PPMs, in the past it was rare to get over 8v8 but nowdays everyone expects only 12v12s. Newer players aren't flexible enough when it comes to PPMs and will only play if there are 24 sign ups which is the issue rather than the ppm scene dying - 12v12 is killing the competitive scene as it forces teams to have more active players and therefore resulting in less teams overall. SOrry if worded poorly.

    Server numbers in general have been declining for a while. Frustrating that nothing here has been acknowledged recently. Hard to keep players interested when the core aspects of a game are gone and there is little-to-no evolution.
    Been around for a while and enjoy actually playing the game freely, though its hard to play really anything with the state of CTF as it is. Casual is a joke considering the way the server is promoted. The "competitive scene" is faded and PPMs have a lack of players. All facts, all acknowledged a while back, yet no response as to what is actively being done. It is sad.
    If Brawl CTF continues down this type of path, the server has a dim future. Lack of new players staying/playing and loss of once long-time players continues to occur. Its a fact touched on numerous times. Again, sad and no real solution or course of action in play.

    Side note: Many people within this "community" don't take these posts seriously due to class selection in-game. The fact this exists in a class-based server is laughable.
